Bringing goodies when jumpseating?

A few times I have jumpseated, I bought a $3.00 pack of candy at the airport and gave it to the lead flight attendant when checking in with them. Obviously, tell them it is for the crew.

They seem to really appreciate it and I am beginning to think it is a nice little courtesy. When I have done this I have been hooked up with a First Class Seat, a First Class Meal when I was sitting in coach, and many thanks from the crew.

Does anyone else do this? Just think it is a nice little gesture for the free ride.
 
You know I've heard of people doing this, but I've only had people offer once and I personally haven't brought anything with me for the crew.

If I were to jumpseat on FedEx or UPS I would, though. We can jumpseat on them, but they can't jumpseat on us so I think I'd feel like a real free loader if I were to jump a ride on them with nothing for them.
 
I was under the impression they were not put into CASS and couldn't jumpseat on pax carriers.

Been wrong before, though.

Why can't they jumpseat on your flights?

I haven't brought anything for the crews when I jumpseat on the passenger side, but I usually do when riding on UPS or FedEx. Just a habit I guess from riding on FedEx back when I used to work there.
 
The FEDEX pilot group has been huge in the implementation of CASS and the new crewpass security program that is being developed through ALPA.
 
I baked Christmas cookies for the UPS guys that took me out to ONT for my Christmas trip.

They about fell over when they got these little plastic baggies full of cookies that said "Merry Christmas from Captain Bob" on them.

I always bought the American crew Krispy Kremes from Term A in EWR when they were taking me home.

Nowadays I just stock up on my leftover crew meals and the crew's really appreicate that. I give the breakfast cookies (awesome), Milanos, Oreos, the ExpressJet Mints, etc. But, the all time favorite has been the PB&J's. The 757 NWA guys were about the most excited I've ever seen any flight crew when I broke those out and handed them those tasty treats!

I always treated my jumpseaters well, but any j/ser who'd bring me food (especially at Eagle) would be given just about anything they wanted. :)
 
i do a lot of the time when i'm jumping someplace new. works great on the gate agents and the flight crews will usually raz ya saying "i knew we let u up here for a reason".

dark chocolate almonds is my poison of choice
 
I have recieved an unopened bag of pepperidge farm chocolate chunk cookies before. that was nice.

I passed out M &Ms before, and when i went to hawaii i gave the pilots beef jerky and some popcorn. But for the most part I dont. I think my rule is if going int'l, definitely bring goodies. other than that, nah! but i am very appreciative.
 
When I rode on FedEx, they crew was joking that nobody brought cookies (there were 5 of us). They said it never fails, when they eat at the hotel, they get a dozen cookies. When they're starving, nobody brings a thing. They then turned to me and said, "Since you're new to this, we didn't expect anything."

Next time I ride on them or UPS, they're getting cookies or candy or something. By far, the freighters are the easiest jumpseat I've ever had.

If you bring me something though, I can't offer much on the RJ, but I'll be thankful and smiling.

When I read that my stomach turned, but then I realized, "Oh Yea, Branded!"

I think if I brought food from the CoeX side I might get kicked off the jumpseat.
 
I've had a USAirways jumpseater from Philly give me and the captain huge pretzels from the terminal for giving him a ride. We were running more than 1 hr late, and with all the MX and weather delays it was only getting worse-and running into all our break times to get anything.

Come to find out the jumpseating guy was an FO for my dad at one point. Really funny how small world it can be. But the gift of the guy actually thinking about it-that we were running behind, so he got us a snack for the ride, it has inspired me since.

I'm disappointed with the immature members of JC (me included) for letting this one go.
