Biggest Flight school Complaint

My instructor is pretty much ready to fly whenever I am. Here lately we've been flying twice a day almost every day, depending on weather. The planes at my flight school are in pretty good shape. The 172s are mostly SPs, and the Seneca I I fly is still in great condition. Unfortuantely, there is only one twin right now (the other one just blew out its brand new engine), so scheduling can get dicey. Other than that, just the price of renting aircraft. Not much I can do about that since my flight school is right around industry standard there.

Any school or FBO with a DTN weather computer. Good God, I hate those crappy things!! It's 2004, not 1984...get with the times. Half of those DTN's don't even have text weather - they have a couple prog charts and the local farm report. Absolutely worthless.

Any FBO without some type of internet access for crews is behind the power curve nowadays. An ethernet cable or wireless is cheap and easy to setup and maintain - should be the standard. There's been a number of days lately when we'll go out of our way to hit an FBO/airport that we KNOW has high-speed internet access because we need to check on company-related stuff.

Before I go, let me say once more that DTN weather computers suck.

Thank you.

i m a international student who is doing flight training in usa, i m already here since more than 7 months although the committed time as per school was 5 months , BUT school owner doesn't seems to be interested in completing my flying. .. pls HELP ME if any body can ITS VERY URGENT...........

THANKS

Just Flew into Signature today on a 172 at KPSP. They were great. Help guide us to park. Drove us to the door. Gave us the keys to a crew car for 2 hrs. and cookies and free water when we left.

The only thing that sucked as the $200 fuel bill for 30 gallons of 100L. But at least I don't have to pay the tab for that one.

Main complain is the extremely small building for the number of instructors there. The entire flight school is made up of 3 small rooms. One is the reception, another is where the ground school goes on, and the third seems like some kind of office. The ground school room only has three tables and it's where most of the instructors/students stay. Kind of distracting to learn with so many things going on.

Mx could be a little better as well. Sucks to find a problem and fly the same aircraft with the same problem week after week.

Where do you go?

Flight Schools and most instructors all have the same problem, they only see dollar signs and flight hours. Flying is incredibly fun and exciting. Some of my most satisfying moments in an airplane have been when a student finally get something they have been struggling with.

You may learn how to fly and know all the regs at some big flight academy, but those two things seem to be the main motivators in that type of environment.

If you dropped a #### ton of money at some flight school and the whole time all you could think about was what was next, you missed the boat. I feel sorry for you.

I also think a huge requirement for choosing an FBO is simply this. Does the owner of the company fly? I don't care if he is instructing or not, but does he fly for pleasure? If not you have to question his motives.

I know necro-posting is bad, but this is pretty funny considering what these gentlemen are doing these days...:)

For sure! I was just reading along without noticing the date. Thinking to myself, "wow, these guys remember this stuff like it was yesterday." :panic:

haha That's funny stuff...
