**Big News For February Applicants**

I have heard conflicting information from the FAA. I was told that I could be selected to interview for another location even though I have a TOL.

Looks like I will be calling back just to be sure.

Has anyone else heard anything on the subject?

I believe what you said is true. I have not moved that far along in the process to have any personal experience, but I did ask rather pointed questions about how to turn down my 2007 applications and remain eligible for PUBNAT1. The lady told me that until you accept a FOL your name remains in contention for all applications you have open. You can only accept one FOL but you can be contacted from more than one location even if you already accepted a TOL. My memory is a bit hazy on this part, but I think she said they don't track TOL's that well so you may have multiple TOL's and OKC may not even be aware of it. They will know however if you accept a FOL and at that time I suppose your name is removed from any other referral lists.

Hey to all you! I haven't been on in a while...lots of you are new! whoo hoo.

ok.
getting down to business.

I have a few questions if anyone can answer.
heres the story (morning glory)...

My husband and I both applied OTS. I have some college credits, he doesn't have any. We both get called in for the AT-SAT. He gets a 95.3 "well qualified" I get 83.8, just "qualified". We both put down the sme preferences (FL and only Cook/DuPage County IL). I get placed on a referral list and he doesn't? What is that about? I mean, he scored higher. I thought that had a lot to do with it. This is the message he got:

Referral list FA-AAC-08-13582: Issued on 06/06/2008 for the Throughout The Nation duty location at the FG-1 grade/payband.
  • A list of the most qualified applicants has been sent to the office with announcement # AAC-AMH-08-PUBNAT1-08232. Your application was not included at this time. Please continue to check back for status updates.
so. questions.

1. Has this happened to anyone before?
2. Does this mean he's out? Or is there a chance he could still be called?
3. Did I get it just cause I'm a woman and they have a quota to meet? (don't get ticked off girls, I'm just asking!)
4. Do you think OKC would tell me why he wasn't chosen?

Anyway, let me know if you know anything, he is REALLY bummed out about this whole thing and I am trying to find some hope for him. :(

I would say... call OKC. If you guys have gone through the exact same process and he even scored better but didn't get a ref. it was most likely due to an administrative error or something else like the meeting the quota for a facility. maybe. i'm not in hr for the faa but that is what i would guess. also he shouldn't be discouraged because i am pretty sure if you don't get picked this round you could for the next. there are a hundred possible reasons but i would definately call to find out whats going on.

Grrrr..I'll call in the morning. I'm kicking myself now, cause I didn't apply for the May open app. I thought he was a shoe-in (especially with the way everyone was talking about the desperate need for people). Now I have to wait for the next open app. oh man, I just feel so bad for him.

i know... i was in africa for the 5/30 app :( so i didnt get in for that one... i would imagine they will have another one soon tho

It's more likely that there's something disqualifying in his application, say not enough experience? Or something else like that. I don't think they're eliminating people yet based on anything else as that's what the panels are supposed to do.

He had a DUI 2 1/2 years ago. He has a ton of experience. 27 years old and has been working since he was 16. He has no college though, that was what I was thinking. Seriously, I wanted him to get it more that I wanted it. Now I'm too sad to be happy I got the refferal. Oh the joys of wedlock!

Not the be a downer here, but if the panels are supposedly meeting today & tomorrow, I'm not sure calling OKC tomorrow morning would have much of an effect. I would still do it though, just don't get your hopes up. That really blows for him though. Especially with that great score. I doubt the DUI had anything to do with it, since that would fall under the background check catigory, & that comes after the panels meet.

I know, thats what I was just thinking. Even if they say..."whoops, my bad. You are supposed to be on the referal list." it doesn't matter cause the panels will already be meeting. But if that is the case, maybe he will be put on the next round of choices, whenever that is.

So it seems that if you are Not on a referal list they send you a message saying that. as well as if you are on the list.

I received no notification either way.

can someone tell me where it says you are or are not on the list?

thanks

i have nothing new in my ASAP  was wondering if anyone else didn't either... I received a notification that I was selected for the atsat on lik 3/14/08 and it said 2/15/08... so i don't know that ASAP is incredibly reliable as it is anyway. Also was wondering if you weren't what your geo pref was. I noticed indy picked up a ton of new people last round so maybe that is it? Wouldn't think it would be qualifications because I've been working in the aviation industry now for 6 years and have experience in ground control... hmm. if anyone has any ideas feel free to share.

I'm just curious..... You did actucally fill out the application and submitted it, right? Just checking....

Hey guys,

So, I'm getting the vibe that it's a good idea to "spam" the applications on ASAP? My AT-SAT is in two weeks, should I still be looking for / applying to other openings on the site?

The only reason I can think of to do that is if you intend to select two more states in your Geographic Preferences. I'd think that if the panel for a state turned you down once, they'd turn you down again.

In that respect, I made sure to list "United States - Throughout the United States" below my first 4-ish geographic preferences. I have nothing keeping me local if opportunity knocks, and I figure that will up the chances for a referral.

This is presuming, of course, I'm not about to bomb the AT-SAT. :panic:
