So this was what we were talking about in the Lav yesterday - basically to sum it up, Doug was speaking to a booking agent, playing with the idea. He felt if he could get in direct contact with Al, Doug could explain exactly what JC is, and see if it was more feasible.

But how do you get in touch with this pilot hero?? You ask I_Money and he gives you Al's cell phone number, that way you can just call him!

I've met plenty of A-list musicians, actors, actresses and far too many politicians, but I've never been that starstruck before.

In my time at AMR I had many celebrities, actors, models and other public figures on my planes. Never once was I ever "starstruck". To me, being an actor or a model, or even a governor, just really isn't all that big a deal.

But put me in front of someone who's actually done something great, like Jim Lovell, Neil Armstrong, Al Shepard, or Al Haynes, and I'd probably be a stuttering wordless mess. :laff:

I'm like you. Alex Ovechkin was no more than 20 feet away from me for about half an hour and I had no clue who he was. None.

I have also met both of the Clintons. I met Bill Clinton at a campaign event when he was running for President and I met Hillary Clinton at her campaign headquarters. I just stuck my hand out and said hello.

The way I see it, they put their pants on one leg at a time just like anyone else.

I have a feeling, Amber, that you'd be the same way. Sure, you might admire them, and want to buy them a drink and shake their hand, but you're not going to turn into a stuttering mess.

That being said, I'd love to be able to say hello to Captain Haynes and it's great news that he's going to be in Vegas. Think you can drag him to karaoke night? :D

I don't know who Alex Ovechkin is either.

A few weeks ago I sat next to a music producer on a transcon flight. He worked with Kanye West, who I had never heard of at the time. Though it was not a continuous conversation the whole flight, for four hours I pretended like I knew who Kanye West was and the guy just kept talking. When I got home and googled it I spelled it Conyay which google suggested Kanye for. Ha.

I do know who Al Haynes is though. :p

"George Bush doesn't care about black people"

Remember him now?

I guess I am an idiot like 90% of America.. I have never heard of Alex Ovechkin and I follow some hockey (googled him).

NJC just got bumped up higher on my must do things for the year.

WOW, that is great news. I was really planning on attending this year, since I wasnt able to make the years past. But I found out last month that I am getting deployed in Sept. So i wont be able to make it again this year. I was bummed when I found out I wont be able to attend NJC 08. But now it really sucks that I cant attend to meet Al Haynes.

*digs around for extra cash*

I have wanted to make the official NJC event for awhile, but now I might have to break open the treasure chest to get out there! Way to go Dough & Kristie! :)

I wanna know how Ian had Al Haynes cell phone number so readily available?:D It not like he's Doug Taylor or somethin!

I am good at networking (Doug once told me it was important) - there are a couple other key figures we are going to invite, whose contact information I already had.
