A lot of you guys might already know about this, but I recently got one and wanted to share it because I think it's a great find.
Like many I've tried just about every hood on the market and I think they all pretty much suck. I gave up and just started making my own foggles from $5 safety glasses by taping off an area and then spray painting the rest. They work OK but are just as uncomfortable and disruptive as the commercial ones.
So I ordered "The Best IFR Hood" which is a thick paper and elastic hood for $5.
It's light weight so you dont even feel it, very easy on and off, just throw elastic over head, and honestly has the best view blocking of any hood I've used including the big plastic hoods. Best thing is it folds up to the size of an envelope so you can always have a hood in your kit without being bulky and in the way.
I'm sure you could make one yourself if you had some card stock and elastic, but for $5 (shipping included) its cheap and easy. Sometimes the simplest solution really is the best. http://www.billweder.com/hood/
I ordered mine, Bill emailed me and said he was out of town for two days, he had it in the mail when he got back and I had it the next day.
