Best post of the year, especially the last sentence. It's a two way street. Freight guys do it to themselves a lot of the time. I seen a lot of freight dawgs come in eat a bunch of cookies popcorn and make a bunch of noise and treat the desk people like crap and buy zero fuel and never tip. You'll generally find that if you are known to be a nice person and an occasional tip for a great job you'll be well received. When I was with Airnet we used Signature in many different cities and with rare exception I was treated like we came in a GIV and not a clapped out 35.
As far as fees, I believe that falls in my lack of giving a crap about the cost of doing business. Unless I'm on a mandate to save cost I have no problem paying with the companies money to help the aviation industry economy. Some guys will have an absolute blowup over some fees that are usually directly associated with the cost of doing business. And as Mini said if it's something routine talk to a GM and negotiate. Giving the CSR or line guy crap will do nothing but make their day bad and they don't get paid any more or less if you get charged that fee.
I love when people yell and scream at me for things I can't control.
