I've held that anyone who says that has not spent significant time inhaling the putrid odor.

I've spent over 10 years of my life around Jet-A/JP-5 exhaust on a daily basis and I still love the smell. Now I just have to wait for the wind to blow in the right direction to get a whif nowdays. Smells better when it's burned than when it goes in the tank.
