The union certainly can tell the company what to do, if they choose to.
How exactly do they do that? I'd love to pass that bit of information along to the MEC over here.

The union certainly can tell the company what to do, if they choose to. I'm waiting for the verbiage, but I'm guessing there will be no recall language in the TA. And, no, I don't expect the union to waste political capital on junior furloughed FOs.
If you can't trust your MEC who can you trust? Management?
If only that were true.
nevermindWith exception of Tutt, I have so many more reasons to trust our management way more than the MEC.
You're welcome to come over to our lounge and ask around....You'll see it to be the opinion of many of us here.
Not trying to be mean, but his proves how absolutely clueless you are as to how things work. Since when does the union tell the company how to run?
nevermind

Opinions are like as.....well, you get the idea.
I'm completely satisfied with ASA's MEC. I think they've done an excellent job.
So are most of the posts here.
The fact of the matter is that most around here are tired of our MEC was my point. Now they may not tell the company exactly what to do, but there is plenty of evidence to show they do have quite a bit of pull here. One example is an email from our MEC last November that asked why ASA management intends on holding onto extra pilots when our block hours are low. At the time ASA was not discussing furloughs, some were mad that credit hours were reduced to guarantee, money saving efforts. Email after email came complaining about it, telling us to be thrifty, reminding people about the "no furlough clause" (which tells me that 156 people we're never considered to be protected by the union; 80 of which were union members) etc. Few meetings with the company then furloughs...after that (FEB 09) credit hours went up an average of 10 hours per line. Opinions they maybe but they are backed by a chain of events. I came to ASA excited to be an ALPA member, but these series of events changed my mind.

Man, this sounds a lot like the DALPA forums!![]()
Lispy?
You're right, they have so much pull that we've been having red arrow day problems for 8 months. They just march right into CT's office and tell him what's up. Give me a break. I hope you're voting for different reps this fall as I sure as hell am.
Just remember where he came from. . .
