I trust the ALPA leadership at ASA and believe they used their best efforts to get what's best for the ASA pilot group.
FYI, this a good way to set yourself up for a fall. Honestly, I don't know who to trust anymore. Can't trust our CA rep in MEM....but the recall passed for him. Can't trust the negotiators anymore, either. Heard all this stuff that was gonna be awesome, then saw the language to where the company doesn't even have to do it. Now, I'm gonna try to get this knife outta my back.....
All I can say is the timing of this announcement just pisses me off. Glad to see the union working for us out there.
Details to come if any are given out.
Oh, and the union is so excited that the red arrow day grievance has been settled. Elections anyone?
If you can't trust your MEC who can you trust? Management?

What was the vote tally? I never thought I'd see the day that he'd get recalled in the Northern Mississippi Flying Club. Things must be getting ugly over there.
What exactly are you so pissed off about? The union was trying to negotiate a no furlough that would protect the rest of the pilots and the company said no way. The company furloughed, therefore that point left the table. Can't believe you are surprised at the timing, what did you think would happen?

After a while, I've learned I can trust both sides equally. I can also listen to each side with some skepticism as well. I don't necessarily hold a negative view of either side... I just can see arguments from both viewpoints, and I try to understand why each side holds the opinion they do. Sometimes I feel management might be in the "right," and sometimes I feel the union is in the "right." When I have the option to do so, I vote accordingly.
It's not us against them exactly. We all want our company to succeed. However, as pilots, we want a decent quality of life, while management wants to maximize profits. That is where conflict comes in, and negotiations must commence. If either side tries to "take it all," then we all may fail. It's a delicate balance, and when either side tries to gain the lead, it all may come crashing down.
The problem is, we're all trying to raise the bar for one another, while each company is much different. What may work for Company A may not work for Company B, and vice versa. However, the competition is there and we pressure each other daily in mediums such as forums like this.
It is all so complicated sometimes. I wish some days that I just swept up garbage on the street... Nothing complicated about taking empty Starbucks cups and putting them into a large plastic bin. Until someone else wants to do it for $2 less an hour...
Why shouldn't I be pissed off? Not at all surprised by the timing, anymore than I was by the furloughs. But I guess I should be happy with something that will delay returning to the job? And please, no 'PBS will make us competitive so we can grow' BS (not saying you would, but just in case).
You are clueless.
The union TRIED to get all pilots covered under the no furlough and the company wasn't having it. Negotiations weren't going anywhere so the COMPANY furloughed and downgraded (i believe mostly to get that point off the table and speed up negotiations as there is premium pay being offered for CR7 cpt). The union can't tell the company not to furlough.
In your first post you seem pissed at the union, I really don't see what else they could have done for you. Now being pissed at the company, a complete different story.
I don't believe PBS will help us grow or any of the other SH BS that he feeds us. BTW, you do realize that we get a vote on this right????
The union certainly can tell the company what to do, if they choose to.
