There was some rumor about it recently, and there is the potential that AMR might sell off Eagle. Granted, not saying this will happen, but AMR has managed to stay out of chapter 11, and if selling off Eagle helps avoid this, the division is gone. IMO, it's a roll of the dice.

Eagle has some challenging times ahead with this spinoff looming overhead. Things could go south in a hurry, and the bottom of the seniority list could be a very dangerous place to be. Or, things could go well and you could have extremely fast movement and career progression. There is absolutely no way to predict it at this point. It's a big gamble.
Nobody here knew what regional to start out at.. every one of them is a gamble. Quick upgrade, stability, domiciles, best contract.. these things change constantly. Just pick one and never look back.

Best Case vs. Worst Case
The decision you are faced with here could benefit from the same type of decision making logic that I used when I made a lateral move a few years ago.
If most of the factors you are looking at really are equal, it is going to come down to best case and worse case at each carrier.
Look at what the best case scenario is at American Eagle and ExpressJet, separately.
Then look at what the worst case scenario is at American Eagle and ExpressJet.
In doing so, it may become apparent to you that one of them holds an advantage over the other. Your analysis of this will not be the same as anyone else's because different decisions have different levels of risk.
True, it can be argued that going to any carrier with a fleet comprised almost entirely of 50 seat jets is risky, but you've obviously gone through that decision already and you've got two options right in front of you already.
When one of them sets off a lightbulb in your brain of being much better in the best case scenario, you'll probably go that way.
If your goal is "not get furloughed and upgrade someday" then you might pick one way. If your goal is "go for broke, because this section of the industry is only really for one thing even though it shouldn't be" then you might pick the other way.
My decision was tough, like yours -- I was working at one of the companies you have an offer at and loved it -- but I used the latter of the two mentalities in the line above this, and quit in the middle of a recession against all advice to not make a lateral move. Against all odds including my own predictions, it has worked out so far.
So, you do not have a CLUE what is going to happen after you make whatever move you make. Good luck!

I have this exact same decision to make. I always thought Expressjet but after meeting with eagle I really like the company and the possible movement there. Really tough decision.

I realize that AMR is going to divest Eagle, but IMHO you do NOT want to work wiith AMR in ANY capacity! My father is a mechanic for them and the company itself is all FUBAR'dl
