Ok here is the scenario..You have just been offered a job by ExpressJet and American Eagle at the same time. Domicile doesn't matter.... based on pay, company strength, benefits, and overall company package where would you show up to work and why?

If you go to Eagle, you've got a GUARANTEED job at a major. You can just sit back for the next few years stress free, knowing full well that a cozy job awaits you :)

Oh the job guarantee thing, that would be of no part of my decision process whatsoever. Lots and lots of things could go down between now and then.

Think about the folks that turned down a job at "whoever" to go to Compass because of a guaranteed job at Delta and ask how they feel about their decision now that the deal is off.

Agree 100%. What guarantees are there in aviation? fuel costs maybe?

The only 100% thing you can count on with an aviation career is that at some point, something bad will happen. Furlough, bankruptcy, medical, bent metal. Pick your poison.

ACTUALLY...

The deal is still on for those that were hired prior to the sale.

Hired after the sale and you're on your own.

I was just being sarcastic, eh. The only "guarantee" in aviation is that there are NO guarantees.

I wouldn't say that's 100% guarantee. I know a few retired guys at the glider club who made it through their careers without experiencing anything you mentioned. It's all luck

That wasn't an all inclusive list. There is mergers, divorce, herpes, pilot advice investing, alcoholism, and a whole host of other assorted things.

My friend, the devil is truly in the details with that deal. Trust me, after reading the proposal and the various terms and conditions, I was not as enthusiastic. I am cautiously optimistic.

Why is domicile irrelevant? Do you have family near one of the domiciles that would help sway the decision? There's got to be something that will help throw the balance.
