Yeah those are the 144 FO vacancies for the latest growth plan which is all effective May 1st. There could be additional newhires in the 2nd half of 2019 but that hiring plan has not been announced. I'd agree that getting PDX and ANC could be a while. On this latest vacancy award with 144 open FO spots, there were 3 ANC FO spots and the most junior was hired 02/2018. For PDX there were 15 FO spots awarded and most junior was 01/2018. If you happen to be in the first first part of the 144 newhire FO wave, you may get PDX/ANC in the next vacancy round after the 144 newhires are in. It depends how many current VX FOs bid SEA/PDX/ANC as FO. Worse case though, plan on a year or two.

Yeah, I got the same gist about 2nd half of '19 (unknown). My availability won't be until late next summer/fall time, so if I'm fortunate enough to get a job in the meantime, I would be more than happy to go anywhere for a while. I'm effectively extending on active duty in order to hopefully keep getting a paycheck until class dates resume post summer season. That's sort of generic for all 121 ops I suppose, but AS is by far my #1. I guess we will see how that works out for me :)

I hope you have your stuff out at DL and Purple/Brown too, depending on where you’d like to be based.

One entry with a reference to the resume. I know these electronic applications do not allow for other than typical circumstances. If you can, try to use hyphens to add the other name/positions (slashes won't be accepted). If the system won't allow that, than a reference to your resume or 5 entries may be your only choices. I was self employed. I got a green background investigator who couldn't think outside the box. It took a phone call to the hiring manager in order to get her head out of her you-know-what. Yes, that was AS.
 
Are you guys saying the hiring plan is 150ish pilots for the entire year of 2019? Or just the first part of 2019?

I wouldn’t be surprised if we hired double that for 2019 or if we hired 15 pilots and stopped for the rest of the year. At this point I’d say without a doubt no one knows what the plan is. Likely because there isn’t one.

First vacancy posted since the effective date of the SLI. It will be the first time guys can cross-bid fleets. 12 CAs, 14 FOs (all Boeing). 26 newhires. Effective date for this vacancy is Sept 1st.

B737:

2 ANC CA
1 SEA CA, 6 SEA FO
6 LAX CA, 8 LAX FO
3 PDX CA

No posted vacancies on the Bus fleet, but since this is a systemwide bid pure vacancy, anyone bidding out of a Bus will create an opening that someone else on a Boeing can bid. Same on the FO side, eg even though there is no ANC FO opening if an FO there bids an upgrade, it creates a spot open as ANC FO. It's one of those bid what ya want situation.

I'm not gonna bid Boeing. I just upgraded last year and I want to hit the 500 hr PIC in the 320 and also the 1,000 mark as well. It would be great insurance for the back pocket in case something was to happen (I doubt it, but never a bad idea). In LAX I'm about the same #s from the bottom of the 320 CA list compared to the 737 CA list. For the same pay, approx bid position (reserve), it's not worth going through a fleet transition IMO. My current thought process is to stay on the 320 fleet as long as possible. On the VX side I know guys who live in ANC, SEA, and PDX that would want to transition over. On the AS side there are several guys who want SFO and some who want their majority up/down west coast flying back and hate the transcons so they want to bid Airbus for that reason too. It really looks like the main point of a bid this small is for the company to see the overall bidding preference for the entire 3,000+ pilot group so they can see just how many guys want to bid across and what bases. It'll give them a great idea of who is looking to go where and how much cost they're looking at long term for their final fleet decision due by the end of the year.

That's where I'm at too, but I can't help but wonder what the lines will look like in the coming years on the dying Bus fleet. I think we all know what the fleet decision will be; lots of MAX's on the cheap. As much as they say they like the 321s, the price tag will be the ultimate decider. With the anticipated 73 growth, I'll probably bid over sooner rather than later just so my QOL doesn't go down the drain.

I agree. If you’re commuting then even moreso. I’m junior enough that once they start any displacements, I’ll probably be cut. Displaced out of the east coast and then get displaced out of the Bus. *Le sigh*

On the bright side we'll all be really good FOs, since upgrade time is gonna be 15+ years now.

It'll have been like 30 upgrades this year, also 20 retirements for 2019 and only 35 retirements next year.

That’s not the main stagnation worry. Retirements pick up in 2021+ just like the other carriers though obviously not as many numbers. The main worry is the final fleet plan if they decide to go all Boeing again. If it’s anything less than a 1-for-1 replacement, we will have stagnation then. If they replace 4 319s with 3 MAXs it’ll be seat growth to them, but to us it’s a net loss of airframes.
