Isn't it wonderful when a journalista with this stuff?They come with quirks such as glare-prone skylight panels called “eyebrow windows” that were common when pilots sometimes navigated by the stars.
Anyway, as far as I understood, those windows where carried over from the DC-8 and were meant to be used for looking for traffic. DC-8s I'm sure had provisions for celestial navigation but would be further back in the cockpit.
