Any Air Wisconsin Folks?

4 out of 5 great lakes prefer Michigan.
Narrowing down my list of regionals to apply to and would like to talk to a line pilot to get the skinny. If anyone is willing to PM me I'd appreciate it!

Dudes in the respective thread on APC were very helpful, try there.
All in all I liked everything I saw and heard including from my buddy that spent 8.5 years there. Weren't it for Envoy's MIA base, there's a good chance I'd end up with ZW.

Yeah, I've been keeping up with the "other" forum, but I guess I'd like to get a few JC guys perspectives...

I don't and have never worked there, but they've always been one of the more respected regionals out there in terms of both the company and the pilot group. I know the future was somewhat questionable over there because all they have are CRJ-200s which some claim is a dead aircraft. I'm not sure if the recent contract with United made that issue go away of if it is still a concern.

It's a 5 year deal, so at a minimum, there's that. By that time I'd hope to have moved on by then. I too question the 200 only fleet...I hear they are pretty used and abused. My guess is after 5 years they get extended and keep pulling cheap frames from the desert, or at some point, United tries to pull AWAC into a wholly owned type scenario. I don't think any ERJ's are possible due to UAL's scope currently unless that gets shuffled and other regionals lose lift.

Air Wisconsin also has the United CPP thing. That's worth a lot.

Except you have to have an undergraduate degree to get the job at United even if you pass the CPP interview program.

You're far too optimistic starting your airline career. Everything within me pains to say this, but I'm pretty sure you live near ORD and you should really consider Envoy because you don't need a degree to flow to AA

Just because I can’t run a marathon today doesn’t mean I can’t in a year or two yes?

Flow is a nice plan D to have in your back pocket, but as a new hire I'd say it's mostly smoke and mirrors for new hires at this time. Company projects it at 6 years for someone coming on board now, union says 9, my math says 8 or so if nothing changes. That's better than 25 or even 15, but still, lots can change in 8 years.

While your schedule is somewhat flexible, interview with all of them, different vibes. But everyone is different and has different priorities, see what rings your bell moar.

In lieu of a PS whereever you guys go - do your homework x1000

Lots of guys at the old school go for the shiny Brickyard 175 instead of the old boring 145's with the flow, and then OMG 2.5 years to hold Miami and god forbid you upgrade, since then MIA is even more senior on the CA side.
It's always a compromise. Pick what's going to work for you best. Might as well in this market.

Lol. Unfortunately RAH recruiters get a lot of people with the “we fly shiny new jets with engines under the wings and it’s practically an Airbus because of engines under the wings.”

To be fair, I haven't seen any Envoy ads with 145s in a while and did hear shorter upgrade time than what I see discussed at Whiskey from a recruiter, so no-one is perfect. Except Endeavor, naturally :)

I keep hearing Envoy has the worst reserve rules of almost any regional...I have to say that's one thing giving me pause about Envoy. Air Whisky and Envoy are 1 and 2 on my list.

Seems to me that only thing that matters is "Where do you want to live?" If you want to live near Chicago, Milwaukee, or Dulles, then apply to AWAC. Everything else is a crap shoot. For that matter, even bases are a crap shoot, as long term AWAC pilots can tell you.

Living in base will do more to add to your quality of life than anything related to pay or work rules.
