Another BIG thanks to Jetblue.......

Dont those guys and gals flying at jetBlue have the same dream all pilots have and thats to be an airline pilot and do the best job they can? Why would you want to punish them by not allowing them a ride? I dont get all the fuss on this and Im very curious. Have any of these jetBlue pilots personally attacked you and your integrity? You are a professional at what you do, stomping your feet in a hissy fit and not allowing someone a ride because they work for company A seems like one giant step backwards to me.

This is an honest question so if you could answer it straightforward and without any BS I would appreciate it. What are you doing besides denying the jumpseat to help bring your airline to a place you want to see it as far as wages? Are you happy with the QOL where you work now?

Why? Only scabs, Gojets, Skybus, Virgin and jetBlue pilots are unwelcome on my jumpseat. Everyone else is more than welcome.

I certainly wouldn't expect reciprocaton from those guys, but I wouldn't ask them for a ride, either.

This type of comment is not going to help influence people to your way of thinking . . . it will just serve to polarize the environment. We really do want to have intelligent debate, but when you add personal barbs, that's all that anyone remembers.


Open comment, not directed to any one in particular:
There are several people here that would love to see this place turn into a trash talking environment like some of the other options out there.
If we all try to add a little civility to our tone, we might find that our similarities are greater than our differences, and we will encourage those on the fence to come to the positive side!
 
Problem is BB, the civility is expected to only go one way, towards the popular view. There is no moderation of the "putting down of..." un popular views, but when Velo, albeit brash, brings up a VERY GOOD POINT, it is a free for all on him/her.

This is a great place, however the one sidedness of arguments and moderation are not doing any of the new guys and gals any favours.

Velo, I say post on as you have been.

Hahahaha, that's cute. This site is one of the biggest circle jerks out there for "popular opinion". Velocipede is no more "belligerent" than some of the other members out there, but since they're of the majority opinion, it's kosher.

I think Velocipede is doing more for this site than a bulk of users ever have. [name redacted] especially.

I agree with Dugie8 and (Gasp!) Chris Ford.

I don't agree with Velocipede's premise in this particular thread, but many of the responses to him have degenerated into "ad hominem" attacks.

I keep waiting for the mods to step in and point this out...


I think everyone here should listen very closely to what Velocipede has to say. Other than using the jumpseat as a weapon, I think he's right on.

I say tone it down and make your arguments . . .

I think that if Velo made the same point without such vehemence, then the violent reaction would have been less violent. Velocipede makes some good points, and if he would take the time to communicate them in a more civil manner, those points would be more readily received, if not fully accepted. I know he has a lot of experience that could be beneficial to those following along. I also think maybe he could learn about commnicating from some around here who are far better at it than I am.

We also have people running around here with no resume taking pot shots at people who have done what most of us here want to do. They do nothing for the debate, and very rarely offer useful information. I would like to see those who have nothing better to do than snipe in this fashion have their wings clipped a little bit. It just adds to the pile of what becomes a nasty thread, and by extension a less desirable community.

Let's not all race to the bottom of civility. Let's be better than that as a group.

No it doesn't, it gets lost because the people here have already formed their opinion and are so wretchedly close minded about a lot of things. Especially interesting is seeing a bunch of PPLs who have developed an opinion on PFT.

I agree with 95% of what Velo says. He has some EXCELLENT points. I disagree with him using the jumpseat as a punishment tool, it should be used as an educational too.

What does a jumpseat pissing war do? NOTHING. Give them a ride up front and then educate them on ways they can change things for the betterment of the industry.

Jetblue has gone WAY out of the way to help me. I would do the same for them. We all should as professionals and demand excellence through a collective bargaining voice whether you are at Colgan, Skybus, Virgin America, Jetblue, Delta, United, or Continental.
