Announcement Ending 05/02

Just my casual observation, but it seems that most of the people who ended up with neither of their preferences requested areas where the pickings were pretty slim to begin with and/or limited themselves to a single facility or were terminal or en-route only. Ditto with the folks that weren't selected at all last time around but were in the "well qualified" group of AT-SAT scores. I imagine there were a few exceptions, but it may have just been a matter of that their choices were all spoken for before they got to their names in this go-around.

If you have the luxury of waiting out for a particular assignment, then by all means do so. But if you're trying to get your foot in the door, it would probably behoove one not to paint yourself into a corner by listing "terminal only" in one state that has a single up/down facility and a couple of VFR towers or putting in your comments that you'll only consider one facility in a particular state. Keeping your options somewhat open seems to be the key in getting selected.

I'm 28 . . .I don't have the luxury of waiting. I really don't care were they send me. Is there a way to let them know that I'm completely open to wherever? Or is there a way to find the most desperate location and make that my number 1 choice?

Just outta curiosity, are you willing to go to Alaska or Guam?

And yes, I believe there's a "comments" section where you can probably write that you're open to do whatever and go wherever.

I think that i am going to put down anywhere in the Continental U.S. because i am not picky and really want this job.

Heh heh...you've got time. I turn 31 in December. :) That's why I've been trying to get into every facility I think I might want to work at and get my name into the minds of those who might be doing the selections. I pretty much only have one shot at this.

If you're really willing to go anywhere, I'd start a topic asking some of the Feb and '07 folks what some of the really far out places they were given in lieu of their actual preferences. I'm guessing the FAA started selecting people for some of these random locations because nobody else was listing them.

Since I haven't seen a Geographic Preferences form yet, I'd ask around and see if there is a "Anywhere in the US" option and just select that and select both terminal AND en-route.

If it is Guam or no place at all . . . Guam it is. I am single, have no kids, and I really want this job. It is just training, right. Can't you come back after training (2-3 years). To me it is not a big deal.

I'm shooting for FL or HI. Live in FL so it makes sense IMO (although probably not the FAA's head) for them to put me to a FL facility if there's one open over someone else from another state...so hoping that works for my edge. Only reasong I'm putting HI down is the PUBHI listing seems to me like there is SOME type of opening there.

If all else fails I'll list Vegas & Chicago as well in the comments section.

You guys make me seem like I'm picky...LOL! I cannot see myself in Guam or Alaska. I don't even want to be anywhere where there is snow. Then again, that might all change when they offer me (fill in the blank). I'm not close minded, but I have a lot more on the line than to just pack up and head to Guam.

Hats off to you guys!

It's alright... I'm a picky one too. I want the job, but I can't just pick up and move across the country (or to Guam, Puerto Rico, USVI, etc...)

I am 22 yrs old... single... no kids... young and able... shoot, I'd control every drug-smuggling, two-bit cargo aircraft coming in and out the USVI or Guam or wherever... like a few of you have said... it doesn't have to be FOREVER... and if it is the best they can offer me now... I... will gladly take it... I'm about to make my own GEO PREF sheet and mail it in... it will be a Rand McNally atlas page of the greater western hemisphere... with a note at the bottom stating "up for anything..."

Anybody heard back on GEO PREF emails yet? I assume these boards will light up like the skies over Baghdad when someone gets one but just thought I'd ask.

I won't lie... if I get a PEPC I won't know how to fill out any forms because I won't know how to express myself without the cunning use of these dancing emoticons :nana2:I mean seriously... here's how it would be for me...

Name - Saxplayer72586 (I don't have a real name anymore, the forums said so)
Age -
Household Income -
Drug or Alcohol use? :banghead::bandit:
Marital Status - :whatever:
Name your best personality trait - :sarcasm:
Name your worst personality trait - :yeahthat:

Needless to say... the waiting continues...

Clear skies and tailwinds, all

I don't think you are picky. In all actuallity, I'm having 2nd thoughts about Alaska. I live in Texas, there really is no such thing as winter. Alaska would probably drive me crazy:crazy:.

When I think about it, I really feel the need to be as open as possible because I have no background in aviation. Half the thing people talk about , I have to look-up because I don't know what they are. My openess is my way of compensating for the other qualities that I lack.

Whoo Hoo....Just got my geo preference! !:nana2:

My goodness, I am going to go crazy. I just got my scores last week. If that is any indication, it is going to take me a while to get mine. I'm getting gray hairs over this!

I don't think your score date has anything to do with when you get the email... you should have it within the next few days... it won't be like waiting for the score all over again

Thank you so much, hopefully I can sleep now :D
