Announcement Ending 05/02

Ok, I feel as if I'm caught up now, and I've got the same referral notification as you guys!

Now I just have to pray to God for a Memphis (or closer!?) PEPC... I can't afford to fly in the aircraft I hope to control one day. :D

If you have a friend that works for a airline, you might be able to get a buddy pass. They are usually cheap.

Yeah, just be sure to try and make it the morning before, as everything is standby. Even when flights look wide open, things happen.

I would NOT try to fly using a buddy pass to something like that. I flew a couple of months ago and every flight I was on was packed so tight that they started asking for people to give up their seats. A buddy of mine tried flying standby about a month ago and it took him two days to get a flight back to Atlanta. They aren't kidding when they announced they were cutting back on flight schedules.

If you really can't afford to fly, take a couple of extra days off and drive there. You just don't want to risk getting bumped from flight after flight trying to fly standby for something like this.

I'm debating on either flying standby both ways to LAX from DEN. or Buying a one way to JFK or LGA and flying standby home. Flying standby can be risky just gotta alot time. Rarely do flights ALL day on EVERY airline go 100% full.

this of course is all dependant on me getting a PEPC. UGHHHHHH:banghead:

Remember when that was an automatic SSSS? I always would just look at the ticket agent and they would just laugh.

Ive been REALLLY lucky in my 3 years of nonrevving and havent gotten stuck overnight. Going to LAX theres like 20 daily on all the airlines. Plus if I had to I can connect through FAT or ASE or something.

NYC is always dicey but we shall see.

P.S.

HAS ANYONE called the FAA this week to check on when PEPC invites go out. I'm going insane waiting.

i still get the SSSS all the time for non-reving on one way flights. probably because of the one way and i usually do book within 24 hours of flights (usually i'm on short notice). i'm used to the shake down

I just told them I was interviewing for a federal job last min and that I'm sorry but its more important then missing a couple of days of work . They're going to find out anyways after PEPC when they start mailing out those letters to your employers.

They really mail letters to your employers? Even the current ones? :panic:

I am new to this sight, but am on the list for the PUBNAT2. I hope that these panels do not wait long to let us know who made the list and where the PEPCs are going to be held. Finding these forums are helping me understand the process a whole lot better. THANKS

Ok since nobody else is calling I did. She told me itll be 2-4 weeks from when panels met last week. So I guess i wouldnt exspect anything this week.

from the pubnat1 flow of things... it was about 2 weeks. 10 days I think was the earliest someone got an email? correct me if I'm wrong.

That puts us at the 18th, possibly. I'll bank on the 22nd.

I'll wager on the 25th, starting around 2PM eastern time...

Any takers?

There is some speculation that the en route panels are meeting separately from the terminal panels. Supposedly it was only terminal that met last week, and PEPC invites will not be sent out until en route is finished making selections. I don't know how true any of this is, since it's only stuff I've read on message boards, but it's not entirely impossible.

If they are in fact meeting separately, which we don't know for sure, I would expect to see them hold off and send all the invites at once. Since there is limited space at these PEPCs, I don't think they would consider it very fair for all the terminal folks to get invites and fill up the slots before any en route folks get a chance to respond with what they want. They will send them all at once to ensure that everyone has an equal shot.

All we can do now is hope that they did not split the panels, and that ALL selections have been made.

for pubnat1 it was only 6 days from the last day that the panels met (06/13) till the emails started going out (06/19). 2-4 weeks doesnt make sense if the first PEPC is the first week in october. if that date is true for the pepc, then i think we will be around the same time table as punbat1. give or take a few days.

Yep... my boss man called me into his office this morning with the letter on his desk. He was cool with it, was mostly concerned if I'd be leaving before or after the Holidays (we get really busy now through January). I don't foresee a class date until March or later.

If I remember correctly, at previous PEPC's, terminal applicants and enroute applicants were scheduled to be there on different days. So if that was true, each group would still have equal opportunity for space if invites went out at different times.

Yep... it wouldn't matter if terminal applicants receive PEPC invites before the enroute guys since they're on different days anyway.

I wasn't aware of this happening either! What is the purpose of mailing letters to current employers?! After you leave the PEPC, don't you leave with a TENTATIVE offer? Or is that when you get the FOL? I don't want my employer knowing BEFORE I tell them! :banghead:
