Announcement Ending 05/02

so how was the tour of msy
the tour was great, i was suprised that i didn't go through very much security at all to get in there though... anyway, the guy that showed me around was pretty cool, he introduced me to everyone there, including the supervisor, good looking lady who was very pleased to meet me. there were about trainees working while i was there. he showed me everything he does from down in the dark room to up in the tower, it was wonderful up there by the way. i suggest checking it out. everyone was kinda hanging out and not workin to hard, didn't look very stressful at all
:p

First post here.. I have been following along in this forum and am still waiting on my Geographic Preferences e-mail. Anyone else trying to get into ZOB? (Oberlin, OH) or Cleveland Hopkins?

I wouldn't mind ZOB but want to stay far away from Hopkins.

Ya I heard its a little less stressfull there. I may have to set one up. Maybe i'll look into it.

i called the faa and the lady told me that something went wrong and a whole bunch of people didn't get their geo prefs when they sent them out. she asked me my name and told me that mine was on the list. she then gave me an e-mail address and told me to e-mail them about it and that they would send me my letter the e-mail address she gave me is aviation.careers@faa.gov hope this helps.

I asked this in the other thread too (this is why it's stupid to start multiple threads for the same topic). But did the employee clarify whether all the emails have gone out or not? As in, if we don't have one yet do we NEED to email that address you provided or are they planning on sending more out anyway?

no she didn't say anything about them sending another e-mail out to make sure that everyone got one she just said that alot of peopple didn't get the first one and that my name was on the list so i need to e-mail that address. i'd imagine that if you applied then your name is on the list if i were you i'd e-mail it any ways even if i didn't know that my name was on the list it couldn't hurt.

This is ridiculous! The goverment can't send out a few emails?! I won't even attempt to call 'cuz I'm almost sure the right had doesn't know what the left has is doing there. I mean, how can they send out emails and then "something goes wrong" and not everyone gets one?

What if I wasn't on this forum and didn't read the posting about this? I'd just be SOL along with 1/2 the people in the 5/2 posting? :banghead:

I am debating on emailing that email that aviation careers email to see whats up.... but i bet they dont answer there either.

I just spoke with someone in Aviation Careers, and she told me that my name was in fact on the list for people who should have gotten an email. I'm not sure if she did anything on her end, but she also told me to email this address: 9-amc-amh-300@faa.gov .

She said that there wasn't a mistake, it's that the email didn't go through to certain email addresses. I never have a problem receiving any emails, however, so I'm not sure really what's up. It's a good thing I know the process, though.

absolutely ridiculous, so what do they want us to put in the email?

All your info so they can look you up, I was told to write that I am on the list of people who were supposed to receive the email but didnt, (so you may need to call?) and that they would re-send it out to my email.

Yeah, I would recommend calling as well. She definitely did SOMETHING, whether it was just look up my name or more. So it might be good to do that, and email the address they tell you.

alright I just called and got the same info, I am on the list and they don't know why I wasn't emailed. They verified my email address and told me to email aviation.careers@faa.gov I asked what I needed to provide in the email and she said to give them my name, that I was on the list, to verify me email (and I'll also provide an alternate) and a contact number. She also said to reapply for the upcoming PUBNAT 6 and the following announcement in Sept. I asked her about PUBNAT 3 which told us 5/2ers not to reapply and she said that was false and she had no idea why it was in there but should not have been. She said after each announcement they start fresh with the new group of applicants. What a mess!!

great.... i didn't apply to pubnat 3 simply because it did say that... guess i'm going to call careers now about the e-mails... this is a govenment agency? geez.

ASAP has told me for a while that emails aren't going through to @comcast.net email addresses.

Here's the message:
*** NOTICE for COMCAST Email Users***
Due to issues regarding COMCAST email practices, the FAA occasionally experiences delays or failures in incoming messages from email accounts ending in '@comcast.net'. Therefore, COMCAST users attempting to contact the ASAP help desk via email at __________@FAA.GOV should contact the helpdesk by phone at _________ if they do not receive a timely acknowledgement or response, usually within 1 business day.

Maybe you have that and it didn't go through? Or maybe they're having problems with another ISP now?

I am using Gmail and that worked fine for the few PUBNAT3 announcements I've received so far.

I use Gmail as well, and usually have no issues. We'll see...
