Just wait! I reserve the right to make it longer when I hit 135 IFR mins and consider possibly moving back to the bay area. ~.^

Considering how long that's gonna be, it might even be a necropost... especially considering what all yall are sayin' about the OAK/HWD base.

I just think it's interesting, because I've always considered AMF a possibility, so I've been reading this thread for years.

Not so sure anymore, though.

What airplanes are based in LBB? Is it just a 99 run or do they have multiple aircraft? What about the rest of the West Texas runs?

There are two 99s and now 4 pilots that live in Lubbock. One for the DFW/Alpine run and one for reserve.

Every morning the Amarillo Metro and Pampa 99 stop in LBB from DFW to pick up freight off the UPS jet.

Thank you for the response. Do the LBB based 99 runs open up often? Why are there 4 pilots for 2 birds?

All the time. Lubbock is probably the best place to be in the DFW system other than DFW itself because there is at least SOME flexibility in the schedule and you can escape on Southwest for the weekend. The DFW run gives 12-13 hours of rest during the day and the reserve shifts with these extra pilots will have 21 or so hours a day off assuming they don't fly. Right now there are four pilots because Burbank offered DFW some pilots out of the last class and the ACP had nowhere else to put them other than add a reserve line in Lubbock. So the idea now is that one pilot does the Dallas run, one pilot does the Alpine run, and one each on AM and PM reserve instead of one pilot covering both AM and PM reserve when we are at our normal staffing of 3. A Lubbock reserve will generally fly once or twice a week and get 3-6 hours, but I have done weeks where I flew more than the pilots on scheduled runs (broken airplanes or bad wx coverage generally) and then weeks where I didn't fly at all.

For anyone who cares, we just got an email announcing the new pilot uniforms. Grey polos that still go with the blue pants we wear with the pilot costume now. Each current pilot gets two free ones.

I'm so glad they have "Flight Crew" embroidered on the back shoulder!
