Ameriflight, Cheiftan, BE99, and SA227 Captains....

I talked to her last week and she said they weren't hiring right now, just accepting resumes to put into a future hiring pool. :(

Well I called again today, and she said that she has not got the list of interviews yet. She also said she hopes to have it today and will be calling for interviews as soon as she gets it. She never said if it was for a class or a pool.

Just spoke with someone from pilot recruiting on the phone...the next class, March 9th, is a mixed class with Cheiftan, BE-99, and Brazilia FO's. OAK needs 2 Chieftan pilots for those interested.

Hmm..she didn't tell me that but I am pretty interested! hehe. How many BE99 capts are they looking for and where at?

This company seems to advertise for pilots quite a bit. What's the reason for that ? No judgment implied; I just don't know the answer to the question.

Is there a large turnover, business expanding ?

Spoke with Sylvia today, she said they will be setting up interviews for the next 2 weeks.
looking for CA and OR Chieftain pilots, CVG EMB FOs, and SJU, also some Metro pilots.

Turnover is high. Some positions/bases/assignments are like black holes, you can get in but can't get out. That's why they advertise for pilots regularly. A good number wash out of training - sounds simple but: make sure you're up to speed on basic IFR stuff if you go there. That cannot be emphasized enough.

What time have you been able to get a hold of her. Is she in the office during the day or night? Thanks!

I called her at 8:00 am here in Hawaii, but this is about the 6th time I tried and it really was just luck that I got her. She was really nice though.

Exactly. Guys will jump on an out station based 99 run thinking to themselves, "Alright! Turbine PIC time! w00t!!!! I'll be at Southwest in no time!" After 6 months of flying the same run and only building 200 hours, they're ready to kill themselves and have to quit the company to leave the out station.

The deal with out stations at Amflight is that if there isn't somebody willing to fill the position, you're stuck there; you can't simply "bid out" of an out station.

Ed's also spot on in that the wash out rate is incredibly high.

Is anyone familiar with Amflights policies/procedures on a) training washouts and b) quitting to get out of 'black hole outposts', and subsequent attempts at being hired?

Come November when I get current again and everything I'm definitely shooting my app that way, I hope they're hiring!

Are you in some kind of contest to see how many times you can make pointless replies to my posts?!

FYI Their training is longer than 3 weeks...

A. When I was there (I left the training department in July of 2007) the general policy was that you'd be given 6 months to go brush up on your skills and then you could re-interview and attempt training again. If you wash out a second time, you were done. I'm sure you could come back in a shorter period of time, but 6 months seemed to be the average I saw.

B. If you quit because you were stuck in an out station nobody wanted, and attempted to get rehired I'd guess that you'd be shown the finger and the door, quickly. It would be obvious that you were attempting to subvert their system and they wouldn't be too happy about it, but that's just a guess.
