American September 2025

I can’t speak on all the hiring classes, but I know this last class in August there was some that were in the pool from interviews earlier this year. I thought I heard at least one was even waiting since January.

Bottom line if your status hasn’t changed to “Not Selected” you’re in the running still. It’s not over till it’s officially over. We plan to grow next year and need quite a few dxers. Not the amount United is hiring, but a good amount.

I’m currently in the pool, but I now have an interview for their Operations Specialist position. I just don’t want to “ruin” my opportunity of getting selected from the pool by attending this interview, if this makes sense.

Major layoffs company wide including in the IOC. If you are in the upcoming new hire classes my best advice is to wait as long as possible before putting in your notice with your currenr employer. You dont want to be out of a job if the dispatch new hire classes get cancelled.

Not bad advice. Just to clarify all layoffs have been upper management C-Suite jobs, a few managers in the IOC and a few crew schedulers and coordinators so far. All of which are non union jobs. I feel for these folks. It was unexpected and is shocking to hear. Unfortunately management is always the first to be cut when companies try to save money. It’s happening at a lot of companies around the country lately like Amazon, Microsoft and many more. I’ve read United has also laid off 4% of management and planning another 4%? But they are still hiring hundreds of dispatchers. We’ve been told we plan to grow and plan to hire more dispatchers as well for next year. Unstable times. I feel for and wish the best for those that got laid off, and hope the future stays positive for all dispatchers.
