Your claim that they "hardly ever" pull from the pool was nonsense, regardless of whether what nearest alternate said was true or not.
 
So with the application still not showing an offer or rejection after over 6 months, is it safe to assume the pool is still valid? Was under the impression the pool was kept for 6 months but I suppose it is at their discretion.

Based on my observations and understanding, the company CAN extend the pool beyond 6 months, but they typically don't. Last round, if I remember correctly, those left without a status change (assumed to be in the pool, because they didn't get emails saying they were in the pool last round) didn't see a status change in the portal on that application until there was a new post, and then it went to "not selected". Anyone here can correct me if I am mis-remembering that.
