It has nothing to do directly with aviation. It measures reaction times, ability to multi-task, quick mental math, accuracy/precision, hearing, etc. You are graded both on speed and accuracy. So if you fly through it and get a bunch of things wrong, you do just as bad as if you get everything right but take forever.
P.S.- Failing it doesn't mean one is "dumb" or slow in any way whatsoever. They even told us that. "Failing" isn't even the right word...the test itself is not pass or fail. It just gives results to Eagle, and they make a decision (or at least thats how I understand it).
Difete- good luck with whatever you decide to do. Hopefully you can get it straightened out without too much cost and hassle.

Difete, my humble advice would be to stay right where you are and upgrade to captain. Sure flying an ERJ is a heck of a lot better than bouncing around the San Berdo's during the Santa Ana's, but that turbine PIC time is GOLDEN! Just be patient, you'll get where you really want to be soon enough!

Well... I am starting my captain checkout in the next following weeks here, and I am excited. Thanks Skywchris for the advice on the PIC buildup here. We are now curently flying also down to San Diego fighting the medfly infestation. It seems Arizona declared a pest state of emergency lately, and that triggered the flights to San Diego.

I've got a couple questions on the American Eagle interview process... I haven't applied, but a couple of people where I work had interviews this last week-- so i was curious.
When in the process are you first offered the job? Are you offered it after the first day on the conditional basis that you pass the medical on the second day? Or do you go through both days having no clue? Second, how long does it take to hear back on the medical exam? Someone told me they thought it was a month... but I have no clue. And last, do they have a large hiring pool that, if you are hired, you keep your current job and really don't have a clue when your class date will be (could be a week... could be 3 months)? Or is it a fairly fast process? Just curious!! Thanks!!

After day one, you will get invited back the second day for the medical exam. The morning of the medical exam, you get a conditional offer. Its conditional on many things, so don't get too excited just yet. Its conditional on the medical results, cog test results, background checks, and captain's board decision. The captains board meets on Friday mornings, so you usually find out that afternoon if they accepted you. If they did, you can begin to get excited.

Took a week for me, but the captain's board results are not contingent on the medical exam results. Meaning, they can say "yes", and your medical could dictate otherwise.

Fairly fast process. You'll have enough time to give a current employer notice though.

Fairly fast process. You'll have enough time to give a current employer notice though.

Just remember...
The captain review board said "Ok" to me... but the medical said, no cog screen passing...
Anyway. Already in the captain upgrade process here, and all is looking good.
At the medical they do Blood tests, AKG's, Urine test (where you have to pee... hold it for 10 minutes, then pee again... Looks like this at the urinal wall =
) believe me, then eyesight tests, hearing tests, finger prints, general doctor checkup where he checks your family jewels, cog screen test, and a whole lot of paperwork on you ancestor's health history.
The captain review board said "Ok" to me... but the medical said, no cog screen passing...
Anyway. Already in the captain upgrade process here, and all is looking good.
