American Eagle told to play ball or become Comair-II

That's a pretty negative outlook, but every group of people is organic in they're thinking in different ways. If we were minimum wage mall cops (easy to train replacements) the above is more true. Pilots have a more critical skill set that is harder to replace because of the time it takes to train. Plus, our training along the way weeds out more of the chit-bags than say fast food. Your assessments often do not also categorize members of the military correctly who make up quite a few of our ranks as well.

Second, not every single crappy TA gets voted on by the pilot group either. The union has to approve it to be voted on, so in many cases a crappy TA that the pilot's would vote in never passes the union's smell test.

But true. Just check history as a guide. But hey I really do hope for the best, but I'm prepared to hear what I know to be true.

I wonder if this is prelude to an acquisition of Eagle by RAH??

Not trying to be a violinist.... But, this song sums up my feelings on the disrespect regional airline pilots are getting!

WILL I LOOSE MY DIGNITY

Pilot Community Unity across the industry is what's needed! I remember those BLACKLIST books of the 1980 and 1990's, boy do they need to be dusted off and reintroduced... Especially on the regional airline level...

The " I'm only lookingout for myself" attitude, or "Frack livable/respectable industry wage and standards" attitude these young bucks looking to fly for free just to get JET TIME and move on to the "majors" has got to STOP. Seriously.

It won't. People people say there's no one in the pipeline. I'll believe that when ATP starts closing schools instead of opening them. There will be some hiring at the majors, but it will stop eventually. Then people we be stuck at regionals again. The good paying ones will go under, undercut by the bottom feeders. All because there are more people that want to "live the dream" than there are jobs available. And there will always be those that can afford to fly for free for a while.

To all the AE guys out there reading this, we RAH pilots have your back. We're in contract negotiations also and the rumor is AMR is pushing our management to sneak a crappy 2% improvement-over-what-we-have-now last best and final offer contract by to undermine you guys... I'm voting hell no.

I for one have a certain set of standards that must be met (which is pretty much on par or better than what you guys have now). I can't speak for all of us, but pretty much everyone I've talked too is behind you guys. After 6 years of negotiations we're much older and sick and tired of this excrement, get more flying lose, more flying... who cares? no more undermining and pay cuts.

Call they're bluff and pay to the last day.

Rant over.

No they don't. No regional pilot group has any other regional pilot group's back. It's all a backstabbing industry amongst the regionals. The concession man came knocking at Pinnacle and it passed. PSA and it passed. Eagle will pass it. If they don't, they'll be gone. The flying will go to the carriers who can do it cheapest. The choice to make now is either accept concessions and take the new planes they are offering or turn down their offer and watch your airline get parked. Given that choice, pilots will turn into self-preservation mode.

Really dude?

News flash: Gutierrez and ryter are gone. The days of "let's all get along" and "trust us, we know what's best" are gone. Quit toeing the company line. We do have leverage.
We turned down a deal for airplanes, and they went to PSA. Company then returned with a significantly worse deal. Explain this "leverage" to me.

The company THREATENED US.

That in itself tells you something- they're out of other places to go.

Threats are the refuge of the weak.
Leveraging fear means you have nothing real to bring to bear.

Uhhhh, it's a poker game. I wouldn't be so sure they are out of other places to go.

YOU viewed all the initial details of the previous offer? That's news to me that those details were out. Last I knew rumors were out but the discussions were bound by Non Disclosure Agreements?

PDT, TSA, Compass (who's longevity is the only reason they're not hurting), GoJets, Commute Air, oh yeah Express Jet/Skywest....... Seems to me American isn't out of places.

I wish you all luck but to put a blanket statement out there like some have is short sighted.

Hey, you can compile a list of names! Skywest is already choking on staffing problems with the flying AMR already gave them. Anybody affiliated with TSA is out- TSA burned that bridge. Commute Air? Can they recruit to fill that order? At their wages? PDT- longevity problems.

If you're not going to think, don't answer.

You are 100% correct. Unfortunately, you have no leverage. For the time being there are still enough regional pilots. You will have to accept what they offer or they will do exactly what they are threatening to do. From a company standpoint, it's nothing personal it's just business.

Really dude?

Yes, really. I think his posts here in bad taste considering what he is saying versus what he did himself. The bottom line is historically speaking and always true, the regionals with the bottom pay provide the best and fastest career advancement, especially the coveted TPIC time. I never heard a Colgan or Great Lakes guy ever complain about a lack of TPIC. They got it pretty quick. As a result, they were able to bail out a lot sooner to bigger/better things than those who choose to go to the "better" regionals. I remember that topic as well here back in 2006/7. Guys were bypassing Pinnacle and Colgan types for the likes of ExpressJet. The bottom line is guys who went to those lower paying regionals got their time and moved onto LCCs/Legacies, whereas those same ExpressJet guys are just finally starting to upgrade today after 7 years.
