The f bomb is a problem with the FCC, who I doubt will get involved, but if the FAA gets involved the right (any?) inspector will have a field day with sterile cockpit.

I think they should be fine. Sounds like its 'somewhat' pertaining to the flight as one pilot is pointing out a potential threat. The f bomb is a problem with the FCC, who I doubt will get involved, but if the FAA gets involved the right (any?) inspector will have a field day with sterile cockpit.
Fair enough - but since when have controllers been "enforcers" of sterile cockpit violations?

I'll bet the form filed out by the ATC crew doesn't say anything about violating sterile.Maybe since pilots started insulting them and lobbing F-bombs at them on freq. Just speculating...

If they think any US controllers are bad, they need to spend a bit more time flying outside of the US.
I seem to remember they have a "DERP" mode. I don't remember the specifics. But I can do a long-winded readback that is > 10 seconds...twenty or so seconds seems more reasonable before you start hollerin' at me.I'm surprised more aircraft don't have the radios that will start beeping in your headset if the mic button is held down for more than 15 seconds. It's pretty handy in the 767. Might be 10 seconds, I don't remember.
