American AIP Rumor

of course it is...but I'll bet my daughters 529 plan that it passes....*disclaimer, I will not.
No way. There is always the very vocal group online who say "NO!" to everything and gives appearance that something will get voted down when in fact they are a minority. HOWEVER, this time feels very very different, a landslide of NOs.

Too many people on the edge of retirement willing to vote it in before they head out.

That's how it felt at the old Eskimo...

We as pilots have 10 years to capitalize on the capacity growth and pilot availability dynamic in our industry. If we fail to use this time wisely our profession will continue to suffer. The Alaska pilot group did just OK and we will only have one more opportunity to set the bar. I wish the pilots at AA the best.

I ask this with genuine interest. Is the AA contract behind in QOL issues because their bankruptcy concessionary contract was so long after United's and Delta's?

I just can't believe United and American TAs are both so lackluster. I can see Delta taking this thing as far as it needs to go in the RLA decision tree to not have an embarrassing TA.

I think in part, the negotiations were started pre-covid. Covid changed everything. Covid and the covid recovery exploited loop holes in contracts and forced schedulers to abuse pilots like they hadnt before. Also, the financial picture changed the entire time during covid. We went from, "Cant survive" to "record revenue" in less than 2 years. Inflation and post-covid financial effects also changed. Part of it was like if you bought started a negotiation on buying a rental property in 2019 for 300k and that same property now is worth 600k. Regional pilots werent making 300k a year in 2019. Things changed but contracts havent been signed so no reason to sign a deal that was adequate in 2019, but embarrassing in 2022. I think the negotiating committees term on the board was ending and wanted to show some work so tossed out this deal on the way out the door.

So is this thing even going to get voted on? Chatter on forums is that this was negotiated with only 1 NC member in the room? Wtf is going on…

APA

In all seriousness, I think politics have a lot to do with this TA. New Board members are starting their terms on November 1st, Fall Board Meeting will follow shortly after and the Negotiating Committee is redone every year during this meeting, even if they simply “waive policy” and keep the same members.

Is it true NC members were picking up premium pay trips?

One member was very unapologetic. His goal is to credit 200 hours a month.

The TA really is awful. It's a steaming pile. Not only did we not fix the QOL items that were promised to be addressed, there were quite a few concessions added. I honestly have no clue what's been going on.

The structure of APA is very flawed. I'm not sure ALPA is the answer, but I'm starting to think it might be our only hope. The BOD has members that are trying to push this out for a vote ASAP. I'm not sure if they have been blinded by the pay rates (which aren't that great) or if they have another hidden agenda.

One thing I do know is the company has done an excellent job of making life at work miserable. Reassignments galore. Recovery obligation. Added flying. A huge increase in 4 and 5 day trips. When I leave for a trip I never know where I'll end up or when I will be home. I understand weather and maintenance issues arise. But poor staffing and planning by AA is not my problem. This is our chance to fix these issues, and it is being massively squandered.
