Alaska landing incident SNA

That jacked up the wing good

This could happen to any one of us at that place… or Burbank… or Midway. At our shop Captains have to do the takeoff in SNA, but a new guy with 100 hours in type can land there. Totally bass ackwards in my opinion.
Honestly the craziest landing Ive ever had was at Midway. That stupid wall plays hell with the winds.

There must be a story there about a guy getting too high of an AOA or low on speed or something, because like you said otherwise that makes no sense haha.

Yep, captains do the take off and FOs do the cutback.
In a previous life, flying 737s out of there, we never did the cutback. I was a normal takeoff, just an NADP 1. Never had an issue with noise.

Although, I do remember flying with a guy who said they took off behind Southwest and tower said they had a 60 knot overtake on them in the climb. He couldn't figure it out at first, until he realized they were still doing a manual cutback.

Lolz, I quit asking why a long time ago. Just makes your head hurt. This place is glacially moving out of the "fly it like a 200 mentality."
