Airline App wants to include Taxes last 10 years

Yeah but the important part is that we're a Team. You stand tall on that impressive and uh rather exposed lectern and pound out the party line. And I uh "advise" you from the sin-bunker. Or, you know, whoev...I mean YOU. Advise YOU, El Commandante! Here, have another medal. ;)
Now that's funny.

Now that's funny.

A stiff drink of Ensure is the only thing that gets me through your...er I mean all of my brave comrades' funerals. Why, I think there might even be an Ensure-Fountain for the prol...er "people" burbling gently from the monument to Dugie8, the great Revolutionary. Never let it be said that I am not munificent! I mean the Party. The Party isn't munificent. Jesus, that was close. EDIT THAT OUT.

I don't get it... Airline Apps is completely ethical. You do NOT pay to apply. You pay for their service that allows you to apply to more than one place using a single application. Don't want to pay for it? Don't use their service.

I am but it doesn't appear the op is.
Actually I'm the OP and I know it's free for a single application on AA. My comment was that XJT asked for tax info even though I'm incorporated. I think it is because I'm the owner of the company.

how do you get around this if you had a job working for your family or something along those lines and it was not taxed?
I'm in the same boat. My first job was with a small landscaping company with just me, the owner, and occasionally one other guy. He paid me in cash because he said it was too much trouble doing all the paper work and I was too young and dumb to know any better. Granted I didn't make enough for it to matter, I'm curious as to whether or not I should list employment with him on airline apps. I worked my rear end off for him and he would be a good reference for my work ethic.

Yea I don't know that sounds a little intrusive.. Though I know some places run credit checks on their employees. But this is a regional airline with RJ pilots who probably have horrible credit. They are too scared to check and see what they will find.

I'll bet you a dollar someone claimed to be self employed, got busted, so HR cracked down.

"I'm a freelance CFI and I racked up 1500 hours in a year but my tax returns only reflect my paper route."

There is usually a story behind strange requests like that.

Great, add it to my list.

Nah, I'm not commenting on whether or not it's ethical, I'm simply stating that if you guys have beefs with the system, I can get you feedback on it. The concept has been around for decades. I dropped $100 to apply for American in 1997, another $??? for UPAS (long gone) and it blew. If the company you want to work for uses the system, and not all airlines do, it's what they'd like you to do for their own reasons. Those reasons? I have no idea, but I can pass on your concerns with the system. I'm not saying its good or bad as I have the luxury of not having to be in the position of being on the job market, but I can drop some SMS's if you guys would like me to.

Not necessary. I was attempting to be snarky to the young lad who complains about paying money.

Ala, aka, the CHEAP SEATS ARE WAY UP THERE!

Pilots, cheap bastards, cause they don't know any other way.

Meh, you've dropped $60k at least for your training, what's another $100 ?
Because that mindset will only lead to more bad choices. The 60 you HAD to pay, the 100 you dont. The 100 is your bad choice, which empowers AA to further screw other pilots. Thats what another 100 will do

Hey look bro, fellow airline pilots created it. Quit complaining, they're benefiting from all of us paying them. Plus I'm sure they charge a small fee to the companies that USE them.
No I wont just quit voicing what I think is unjust. Maybe thats your approach to challenges, but not here. AA shouldnt be screwing with people, and thats apparent in their business model. They have a job assistance site for people who potentially dont have jobs, and are charging them for it!? And your whole "do unto others as others have done to you" thing you mentioned isn't the best course of action, bro

You DON'T have to pay!! Good lawd. Entitled much?

Example:

Walk in to McDonald's and order a cheeseburger. "I shouldn't have to pay because I'm hungry and you're taking advantage of hungry people!!"

There's always hot air balloon piloting.

Get the job and fight it from the inside.

As long as American has 10K applications on file and a regional subsidiary that will sell its soul for a flow through, I don't think an Internet post is going to do much.

Do you actually disagree with their ethics? It's nothing like the orange site that charges you to see the listings. The application is free. You do NOT have to pay to apply anywhere. You do however, have to pay to use their service. It's a lot like the common application for colleges. It saves you a lot of hassle but you could do all of them separately.

I'm fairly indifferent.

I paid money to determine that I earned enough and that my home was fiscally worthy of refinancing from the same company that held and serviced my loan.

I don't blame airline apps at all. Airlines can choose not to use their system OR the A4A/ATA could choose to reimburse each applicant. Like Pandora and the music industry. They'll send the artist something for having access to their music, there's no reason in the world that the A4A/ATA airlines that use airlineapps can't collaborate and reimburse the applicant.

But they don't.

I do think charging pilots to look for jobs is ridiculous as all they so is scalp one another's posts and claim it as their own. If I go a week without some pay-for site claims that some posting here, often some I've posted myself at the request of the employee and threatened to use me, I would be surprised.

You guys keep paying to look at jobs readily available in the public domain, they'll keep charging.

You guys keep applying, they will keep charging.

We, the royal we, created this false economy. Otherwise we're complaining about the dope man on the street corner as we "pop a Molly" that we just bought from him.
