Airbus A322

The best 737. And the same one pictured here, last of the -100s in US service. 737-112 N708AW of America West and Sierra Pacific.

Haven't flown it, but IMO the 320 is extremely overrated.

Haven't flown either. Think they're both boring. Especially living here in PHX. Here an airplane takeoff at work. You can bet that its a 737, 320 or CRJ7/9. Yawn. I love and miss the variety of planes in the 80's and 90's.

Really, why?
I know you quoted him but I'll give my answer. The procedural stuff looks like a pain in the butt, I mean when the FO starts the engines they're flailing their arms around like one of those inflatable things outside of a car dealership. But it seems like flying wise it's probably more "just do airplane stuff." instead of trying to "figure out" how Fifi thinks and trying to outsmart her to get it to do what you actually want it to, because the Europeans don't realize that the rest of the world doesn't work the way Euroland does and "managed everything" doesn't always work that great.

That and how much he post here and also on FB about how much he hates riding to work in a 737. But he took care of that part when he said he hates flying on it as a passenger.

The side stick and FBW reminds me of flying the planes around in Grand Theft Auto. But not in a fun way, more of a “this is really numb and disconnected” way.

I dunno man. I have really grown to enjoy the side sick and FBW. It really flies nicely once you get used it. I really like kicking off the AP and AT and flying it. Most of the issues come from the box. And the new Honeywell box fixes some of my gripes.

Eastern Provincial Airways had a Boeing customer code "E1"

They operated the 737-200 (specifically, purchased the 737-2E1).

The hexidecimal value of decimal 737 is 2E1.

This pleases me.

EPA merged into Canadian Pacific, which merged into Canadi›n Airlines, which was consumed by Air Canada.

(Sadly, Air India never bought any 737-700s.)

It would be interesting to talk to someone who has time in an Airbus that isn't an A300. Who also has time in a 787 or 777. To compare and contrast both companies different ideology of FBW.

The folks who have more than a year flying Buses and still can't figure out how the autoflight works are idiots. It really isn't that hard, when all else fails turn it off and hand fly - or be paying attention enough to see where it'll have trouble meeting a restriction or whatever ahead of time and intervene. Not only is there a ton of space up front, it's quiet and starting it takes like two steps. Haven't flown the Guppy yet but I doubt a four leg day is as easy as one on the -320

The flight envelope logic on the newer widebody Boeings is pretty much identical to the airbus. Sure it's called different things, and yes their throttles (or whatever they are called) actually move but otherwise it's all pretty much the same. You can kick off everything and hand fly just fine on both aircraft.

398. Which is an infuriatingly random number.

We had a guy years ago that requested a block of FL390-400 and cruised at FL398. That prompted a memo saying guys please just stick with 390 max.

I don’t get the hate. It’s packs off, engine start switch to Ground, and then watch it spool up and introduce fuel by moving the cutoff switch to idle. It’s literally no different than a CRJ-200. For me, the 737 just felt like if someone made the Bus like a CRJ.

At our shop, the right seat of the 737 is busy. Mainly because they are doing a lot (initial safety check, fire check, walkaround, prelim flight deck flow and check, load box, performance, etc). For me, I review the flight plan in the iPad, WSI, brief the FAs, CA before start flow, verify box, FO brief and checklists. Much less work.
