Aerial Mapping

despite the online name, i am coming from jacksonville florida, leaving next wednesday. that sounds right about the open slot.
as far as i knew carol said there were 8 coming up for the 8 open slots, and presumably if the interview and flight go well then the 8 people get those 8 slots.
but i am looking forward to it, and obviously nervous about the interview. if you've heard anything let me know. my name is andrew by the way, give me a shout anytime.
 
What kind of hours does everyone else have? It sounds as though most of you with interview dates are around 250tt. I had a phone interview, just the basic questions, about three weeks ago, but never heard back. I have about 430tt, 110multi. She commented about that being close to the hiring minimums for the airlines. I think that might be a reason I wasn't offered an interview, like I might be likely to leave before the contract is up or something. Anyways, I was just curious about other peoples flight time.

I was 250 and 40.

Just relax and go excited. There is nothing to be nervous about and no games are played. They are both excellent people and just want to get to know you. He just wants to see your decision making skills and how well you fly.

Good luck. I know I am excited to work for them.

With your times I'd say your a little high for this one, understandably they want people to stay the duration and percentages are way down for something qualifying elsewhere and for probably more money too.
 
I guess you never really know the reasons for sure, but for my own peace of mind, I'm gonna go with the too much time theory.
 
I interviewed there last Saturday and was offered the job. 400TT, plus I have family in ROC so I don't have to worry about relocation too much. Carol and John are great people, the interview is pretty straight forward, no tricks. As far as the flying I flew a cross wind take-off, tracked a VOR, did a sim engine out, a steep turn, and shot a practice ILS back in. I am looking forward to building some hours this year with these guys, hope to see some of you there!

If anyone else is still interested in aerial mapping, there is another company down the road in Rome, NY. Landcare Aviation is who I worked for last year. Good guys. Their benefits were a little different, but you do the same job and use the exact same equipment pretty much. PM me if you want contact info. I'm sure they are in the hiring process as well.
 
Ram Would be a great company to work for. Carol and John are very nice people. I had phone interviews with them and was going to go up there for the face to face interviews. At the last minute though, I got an opportunity to take a job in charter near where I live. I would have loved to go to work for RAM had this other opportunity not presented itself. I highly recommend applying with them. I would say though that if they give you an opportunity to fly with them, you should stay all seven months. They are giving you a chance with having low time and the least one can do is give them 7 months in return as a sign of respect. I wish the 8 who are hired the best of luck..:)
 
i agree, staying the whole 7 months is beneficial not only because of the bonus they give you at the end, but because of the fact that there was many people applying for the job, and it's just respectful in the aviation world to stick to your commitment.
 
Just to clarify, I had every intention of staying for the full length of the contract had I been offered a job. I was just saying that I think that was a concern of theirs about hiring a higher time pilot. I do agree that the respectable and right thing to do would be to honor your contract commitment.
 
i wasn't implying that you were, no worries. definitely was because you had too much time though, and i agree that i'm sure they thought you would leave early like most people have done in the past. carol stressed that alot when i had talked to her. thanks for all the advice from everyone, look forward to seeing some of you in the future, and good luck to others in their interview.
 
as of right now i'm going up next wednesday for an interview w/carol & jonathan. can't tell you how nervous i am, so if anybody who had worked there previously had any tips on how jonathan flies, or how they ask questions in the interview that would help me out a bunch.
as for the 7 slots filled, i havn't heard anything about that. as far as i know they've sent 8 people up there, and the 8 people are the ones getting the job thus far. so who knows, as soon as i know something though I'll post it on here.

Good luck with your interview! I just had mine yesterday and was offered the job right after. Seriously just be relaxed, and even if you are nervous going in you probably won't be after you spend a few minutes talking to them. It was actually the most friendly job interview I've ever had. Just know your stuff, be honest and enthusiastic and you should have no problem.

just got back from the interview & flight. got offered the job on the spot which is way cool. carol & jonathan are very nice people and i'm looking forward to working w/them. as for more openings, i was told there's 2 slots open so I'd say go ahead and apply, why not. thanks to all those who gave me advice/help.

Good going! It's shaping up to be a JC gathering when we all get out there. Which by the way, has anyone gotten anything in the mail yet from RAMS? I'm wondering when this training and stuff will be? Assuming we're to start mid-october it must be sometime pretty soon...
