AA Hiring Soon

So what is it to be expected if application still says “Pending Hiring Manager Review” since 01/11. Will it eventually be a “TBNT”?

Anyone else in same situation?

AA's selection process makes ZERO sense. This class and the October class in '23.
Why would you hire regional dispatchers with 3-6 months experience.. over mainline dispatchers with 1-2 years experience. Especially with FlightKeys experience.

Nobody really knows how they pick people.
Especially now after covid.
Perhaps you need to network more,
Or a fresh set of eyes to tweak your resume.
To the hiring pool you go.
It’s not so bad.
Surely they’ll hire another class this year,
Maybe not.

Envoy dispatchers are a known quantity and historically don’t have a problem learning AA’s systems. Externals may know the main system, but they won’t be as up to speed on the way AA does things. I’ve been told that past timetables had MQ new hires comping out in a half to a third of the time of externals, but that was during the DECS days.

American also has a long and storied history of nepotism. I’m not dogging anyone that made it to AA using familial connections (if you’ve got a leg up and you don’t use it, you’re doing yourself a disservice), but it’s been a thing for a long while.

Networking is your best friend in this industry.

Why do you think that they only have 3-6 months of experience? How do you not know that the majority of them might have over a year or two of dispatch experience, or longer?

Also, Envoy dispatchers have a much lower learning curve when going to American since they’re already familiar with the bulk of American’s systems. Beyond that, from what I’ve heard, Envoy has dispatched more flights under FlightKeys than any other airline domestically, and not just FlightKeys, but American’s build of FlightKeys.

So again, how can Envoy not be considered the strongest contender for a move to American mainline?

I have not received the TBNT email however I didn't receive an offer. When I look at at status It did update. It no longer says Pending review from hiring manager. The date changed to 01/27 but now there is no status on it. What am I to make of this? I see some comments about being put into a pool for a future hire date. That would be nice I suppose. Can anyone shed some light ?

In the past, they notified the people who were put in the hiring pool.

TBNT have definitely gone out. So if you haven’t gotten one yet, then you haven’t gotten one yet.

As of now, it’s neither a yes nor a no.

An official flow agreement for Envoy, PSA and FPS would make sense and save time doing interviews with a bunch of external candidates that they dont intend to hire. A few bad eggs might flow in but it would be a lot more fair and transparent than the process we have now.

For those that don’t know, FPS works in the IOC with the dispatchers at AA. They fall under the Operations Specialist that was just posted not long ago, but appears it is now closed. We just hired 3 of them internally into dispatch this round, one of whom was only at AA about a year. But that one did have dispatch experience previously as well.
