AA EAGLE 300hr mins.

I didn't say it was good to pay pilots less, I said it would be unfortunate, re-read the post. I also said in theory, the airlines can offer more flights if they have more pilots, they can fill more seats and make more money and that would be good for the industry and the pilots. The operative words here being "in theory", reality is something totally different. I also said that many of the folks running these airlines pillage the companies and bolt just before the ship sinks and leave the employee's behind to clean up the mess, if there's anything left to be cleaned up.

I'm not trying to be a smart ass here but how is paying theses guys less good for the industry?

It's about time our domestic carriers have gotten with the program. European and Asian carriers have been doing this for decades with their ab-initio programs. I know someone who got on with United (mainline) about eight years ago with about 350-400 hours straight into a 737. It was unbelivable then and now he's FO on a 777.

I call BS on this one. No way that happened.

Well I wouldn't entirely rule it out. United had a flight operations internship going on throughout the 90s that was conistently hiring low time guys that had completed the internship and had gotten their degree. Many had only had around 300-500 hours. Yes, they were a small percentage of all the incoming new-hires but from what I've heard they were all successful with training.

Do a little research on United in the late 80's and early 90's and you will find that they did a good bit of this. Many of the people didn't have time this low, but were he's not the only one who came in under that "program". He's the only one I know who did it with under 1,000 hours, but I've heard of others. As for this person, he came after the time period I mentioned, but he did it.

Someone else placed a post about their internship program and this guy did go through an internship about a year to year and a half earlier with them. The bottom line is he got in. I trained with him some and I know he got the job a week after he got his CFI. I have nothing to gain or no reason to BS anyone in here; it happened and he's still there, now FO on a 777. Quite as it's kept, all of the majors do this sort of thing. In this industry, who knows you matters even more than who you know.

Wow. That's pretty amazing then!

I wouldn't go to eagle if it was 200/10

By the time you upgrade at Eagle, you can have enough PIC at another carrier to get on with a major.
