AA EAGLE 300hr mins.

I have about 200TT / 40 Multi. Think they'll pay for the remaining 50 hours I need to qualify to take my Commercial checkride, and then pay for the checkride, and then pay for FlightSafety!? :sarcasm:

In all seriousness, though, I live in Santa Barbara and would have no problem flying the SAAB out of LAX. It'd be fun. I drive a Saab, and it ain't too shabby :)

PS: Am willing to split time with anyone with access to a duchess or seminole around LA!

new hires that turn their nose when you tell them you are training with PDT. And I quote "oh you're just training on the Dash 8..." Have I answered your question? :)

Well, I have seen that conversation too many times at CLT training center. It went like this - "Shhhh....There are a lot of pilots are training for PDT. I feel sorry for them..." That sort of conversaion? The best part - they are just there for interview.

I let Bob to chime in on that issue.

Im gonna play devils advocate on this one. I think all these rumors we hear about low timers getting on is just rumors. Most of it is second hand knowledge that we hear from other people. While there are rare cases of low time hires, I personally talked to Karen and Claudette in recruiting at eagle and they said no matter how desperate they are for pilots, 400/50 is the bare minimums they will look at. And plus, the 400/50 is whats listed on their website but realistically those mins apply to past interns or graduates from Embry Riddle or one of those aviation universities. Seriously, I hope I didn't ruffle any feathers but I just wanted to clear that up before guys with 300 total hours start spending money on airlineapps.com to submit their resumes.

I found out the hard way by wasting my money on airlineapps.com last month. I have 354TT, 45ME. I have gotten 2 replies of need more time and jet bridge course, as well as the usual no responses. I was misinformed about the pilot shortage. You still need to work your way up the hard way in most cases.

Well if they are happy making $12k instructing or $18k flying for someone else that's their business. It seems like people in this industry tend to forget that you have to make a living too.

Well lets face it it does not matter who you fly for as long as you are flying at getting paid to do it.

MINS...... I guess if you get hired on with 300TT consider yourself lucky, but if not I guess it just a sign you need more experience and to just keep chugging away at it. I mean I guess flying for a regional might become a "norm" now that the major and scapping up cash with the $6 gas as some major airports now so they just toss they biz off to the 70 seat regional. I heard that the 70 seaters are really paying of for airline operating those 50-60 percent routes because its just easier to slap that route on a regional parnter.

As far as upgrade times go I hate airlines that advertise 18-24 month for an upgrade and you at their last CA upgrades and they were years ago.You tell me what the deal is with that. O, i like the video on pilot at www.americaneaglecareers.com. I guess they are trying to make regional flying sound glamorous.LOL.... I wish they would mention the pay in the videos..LOL...O and how about the upgrade time....O well, I guess as long as your flying you just got to tough it out at the regional as survice on the 5 buck an hour and 15hour days wages flying jet or non-jet.

LOADY.....have you looked into this program anymore since NJC?

Nope. I sent an email as I was asked to do. In return, I was supposed to get all the details. Never heard anything. I thought about sending another email, but then decided against it.

So if I read this correctly, they want close to $80,000?????????????
The way I understood it, they pay for it. I sent an email for clarification, as stated above. So I don;t know for sure.

Let me get out the crystal ball deary...hehe...just kiddin dude.

My opinion: They will be as desperate as they are now until the final guy hired before the three year hiring freeze makes Captain. Then upgrade time will drop from 7-8 years to 4-5. That is still high though, so I would expect they won't be short of openings even then, especially given that they are going to be sold away from AA this year.

How long do you think this will last with AE?

I have no idea. I think it might take sometime before it changes. Lots of airlines will hire people with as low as 250 TT these days which is good for young pilots but very bad for student pilots.... All of the flight schools are hurting right now....

I just received this email; Does anyone know if LAX is still open as a choice and what type of equipment would one start with if they went to LAX?

Some guys asked the same question when Eagle went from 1000TT to 800TT. It got lower; 600TT and now 400TT. It will go down from here because the demand is so high. The trick is to raise the payscale, not lower the standards. There are qualified pilots out there but not enough who will take a job flying jets for peanuts and crumbs.

And yes, LAX is still a choice. More than likely you will fly the Saab 340. Great airplane!

It's about time our domestic carriers have gotten with the program. European and Asian carriers have been doing this for decades with their ab-initio programs. I know someone who got on with United (mainline) about eight years ago with about 350-400 hours straight into a 737. It was unbelivable then and now he's FO on a 777. I don't know who knew him, but it most of been someone who can make things happen. I trained with this guy some and he got the job offer about a week after he got his CFI.

As for Eagle, this is good for the industry I think as the airlines can get some younger pilots and groom these people to think 121 early in their aviation careers, pay them less (unfortunate), offer more flights, make more money and be more stable ~ in theory. The unfortunate reality is that many of the people who run airlines have no idea how to make them work and the guys at the top bail when things get bad, take all the money and leave the employee's to deal with their f--k ups.

Just my two cents!

I'm not trying to be a smart ass here but how is paying theses guys less good for the industry?
