9E Headquarters to move to Minnesota

I have no problem going to the DTW crew room and hanging out. Most if not everyone has been extremely nice. I've only had one FO who wouldn't stop complaining and trying to argue with me. I made it very clear either it stops or ill be removing him from this trip. It stopped. Every plane says "Fire Fadi" or has a picture of a penis pissing on Colgan. And the bathrooms all have anti Colgan stuff everywhere, but most people are nice to my face. If they weren't, oh well life goes on.

As far as training goes I didn't have any issues. The oral was fun as a lot of it was explaining how mesaba taught us wrong. It was weird being taught by mesaba and tested by pinnacle. Everyone was extremely nice and went out of their way to be fair. I really enjoyed MSP and the facilities and Matrix program. Top notch all the way.

Horray, equivalency! With the poor manner this merger has been handled it's fantasy to believe pilots will fix it on their own. Work together in the cockpit and let time heal the wounds. I'm sorry, this is the real world and this is what the consequences are for thr years of mismanagement on every level.

I've been coming in and ut of the jfk crew room for two years, with and without the mesaba uniform, fenced and unfenced. someday i need to see this other crew room you speak of kellwolf . Until then I will just wait until everyone tires out and throws down their weapons.

Training was awesome. We drank like fish. Went to some of the most horrible redneck bars. Broke hotel rooms. Had fire alarms going off. Played whiffle ball.

Then every now and then we'd study.

Our whole class passed 100% with types, except for the one guy who didn't have the time for his ATP.

Some of us even had ::gasp:: pink slip peoples!

Who turned out to be an awesome guy.

Thanks for not letting that guy break the bottle over my head!!

Maybe I'll finally be able to buy you lunch for the study material you hooked me up with during my Saab training. I'll be up there next month.

Here's the problem I see with that: with people constantly bringing things up, it'll always re-ignite things. I love ya like a brother, Joe, but you're part of the problem right now. You're not waiting until everyone tires out, you're one of the ones that keep bringing things up. Let. It. Go. We get the fact there are guys in the training department that are a-holes. Welcome to the airlines. If Mesaba had all good guys in their training department, well, you were one of the rare exceptions to the rule, and I congratulate you. However, with people constantly bringing up how badly the former Pinnacle training department sucked, how is that helping? You're re-drawing the lines when they should be erased. The union needs to step and tell people to play nice, but it won't happen. Management certainly isn't going to, so it falls to guys like you and the rest left over there to take the lead. You can either choose to do so or keep going like you are. If I were still there, I'd be trying to knock people's heads together and tell them the same thing I am here.

Eh, maybe your right and I am a part of the problem. The old black man wisdom in me says that knocking peoples heads together never works, and doesn't foster cooperation nor trust. People need time to adjust. I don't see a happy pilot group or that inate trust developing for another year at least. With any luck next year things will be so wildly different it won't matter.

ps. thanks

In most cases, I'd agree with you. However, with these pilot groups, you need "tough love." We were brought up to hate each other and then forced into a shotgun wedding. Mesaba would preach the "We're not Pinnacle" mentality from day one. Pinnacle would do the same thing and talk down about Mesaba every chance they got. I think, in fact, without head bashing, it'll get WORSE in a year as most of the people left will be the senior people with that mentality ingrained in their psyche. With the MEM base closing and HQ moving back to HQ, I could see the senior Pinnacle guys holding a grudge right up to the point they drop from a stroke. Leadership needs to be taken to smack 'em around a little bit to remind them everyone plays for the same team now.

Oh, there will be so many folks leaving if Delta doesn't put us down for good the only thing we pissed at a year from now is that we didnt go work for the railroad.

But all the senior guys are leaving for Delta!

I just flew a trip with a great captain and we talked a little bit about the next step. He mentioned he hasn't applied anywhere. He's still young at around 30-35 and has a working wife and a few kids. I asked him why and he basically said he's lazy. I know I'm slightly diverting the subject here but there are simply some guys who aren't gonna leave. Hopefully they're not the ones still holding grudges.

Side note wtf why wouldn't you leave!? Make every effort to get out!

Some guys are happy with where they are in life. Like you said. Couple of kids and a working wife... sounds like he might not be hurting for money and doesn't want the time spent or the stress of moving up. Probably one of those that when the job goes away, they will leave professional flying.

I'd wager the senior MSP guys and senior DTW guys might stick around longer than people think. The MEM guys would have if they hadn't closed the base. Even with that, I'm still hearing a lot of senior guys griping about how they're going to hate the commute to MSP or DTW more than they're griping about updating their logbooks. Granted, this is Facebook griping, so I don't know how real it is....

I guess I just don't understand not aspiring to be at the top of your career. I wouldn't say I'm unhappy with where I am so far career wise but if I ever just give up I think I'll be pretty disappointed in myself. If Pinnacle is your pinnacle well, I guess that's just fine. I'm getting outta here when I can check all the boxes though.

It's not just people not aspiring to be at the top of thier career. There are plenty out there that don't want to work for a major or even just start over with a new company. You also have to factor in that some pilots at Pinnacle are wearing "golden handcuffs".

Thanks to all the yes voters that assumed the company was going to hand you an eltloa this year. Per the ALPA email today, no furloughs or any LOAs of any kind this year.

I tried getting one two weeks ago. Union said they were still offering, but the company said no. Damn.

The union keeps saying "the company can hand them out any time" the company refuses to though.

In our transition class last summer we had 3 guys ask for LOAs instead of quitting. None of them were successful. The company will force your hand to quit.

What did we get again by voting yes? Lower pay rates for NOTHING in return. This place is such a piece of •.

And you and I can now say "Told ya so." And Pinnacle just saved a mint since they won't be paying out the "3 months of furlough pay." That only happens if you're furloughed in 2013.

Like Ctab said, I could definitely see people sticking at Pinnacle, especially if they're in the left seat and living in base. If you've built your life based on regional CA pay, it's going to be VERY hard to start over at a major. I had to cut back a LOT when I jumped ship, but it's a temporary cut. I'll be back to ALMOST making what I was as a CA when I get my raise in November. Based on current rates post-bankruptcy TA, I might even be making more. I haven't run the numbers. If our annual pay adjustment goes as it should, I'll definitely be making more on 2nd year FO pay come January 2014. If it DOESN'T go as it should, that'll likely be the nail in the coffin for the Direct Relationship over here with a union on proprety inside of 6 months.
