14 more A350s for SouthernJets

Hmmm ...

Learned to hang the toilet paper “properly,” put the seat down, toothpaste cap back on, and so forth, as a courtesy - not a requirement - way back in the last century. If I dribbled a bit, I wiped it up. No harm, no foul. It was simply polite. Preferring rural America where it’s easier, one supposes; I pee in the woods if I’m out there working - and bear-like - I’ve shat there, too. Expedience trumps propriety, at least occasionally.

Not sure why a guy sits to pee in order to be “polite,” when it’s a simple matter to police the “john” if there’s a bit of splash. Still, each of us walks a unique path of our own choosing and no one has to meet standards of my own making. Sit, stand, go in the woods ... most importantly, be happy and at peace as you walk through your quickly-passing days;)

Seems that a lot of the people in this thread who prefer not to ( or say they don't have any desire to) fly international happen to work at places where that isn't even an option.

If I can stay inside the eastern time zone, never fly a leg over 3 hours, and never fly a red eye ever again, I'll be a happy guy. If I was at Delta, I'd bid the 717 until they retire them.

Yeah, I'd say that's a no from me, Dawg! If the legs are under 7 hours, I'm not being productive. Fly me as much as you can, let me explore some, and give me a big block of time off.

It's not that, it's that I'm a cynic.

Bait and switch is a game as old as empire for airline managers, and I'm fully expecting this to work out poorly for the average line pilot. At that point the MEC will feign outrage, because either they didn't see it coming, or they ok with it happening in the first place.

It, in this case, being a net loss of airframes, but an increase in the ultra long range wide bodies.

Well i mean you made that last part up, but sure?

What’s with the domestic hatred? Now I get that as a 330/350 CA you can get 400-500k and obviously that pay raise is worth it. But be honest, at this point even you have had your fill of Amsterdams and Paris’s that you should be like “oh, Amsterdam again.”

It’s one thing if you go to a Delta seasonal destination like Malaga. But AMS, CDG, LHR, aren’t those getting old with how often you’ve been there?
Because its a whole hell of a lot more work doing the domestic stuff.

I'm saying that would be my concern down the road. I.E. they park the 777 fleet or something.

Oh very true. It's why I'm retiring at 60. I'm not going to retire and die a year or two later.

I get it. We don’t even have true international but I miss getting flying fish in Barbados. I miss the Bandeja Paisa I would get in Bogota. Now as a 190 Captain my overnights are DCA, FLL, JAX, CHS. If they ever get the pay fixed, I will give the supposed Europe type flying a shot. Life is too short to be excited about the “good” pub food across the street from the hotel.

Define true international please lol.

I think I’d enjoy widebody flying, but it’s also true that there are some alarming health risks with a irregular sleep schedule.
Isn’t this the case with any 121 flying?
Asking as a guy that isn’t a 121 pilot.
