121 guys, how does this happen? (AKA,Oh Delta)

I thought we had reached peak hypocrisy when you were chastising young pilots who didn’t have enough drive to become airline pilots.

And then you go criticizing a random guy you found on the internet who got to major CA quicker than you despite having actual paid PIC time before getting to the airlines.

Keep being you!

These are certainly words. Put together, amounts to garbage because it’s not the correct take on what I wrote before.

I had to ask the same guy who wouldn’t let me run the APU politely, “can we brief going into DEN?” We’re almost to TOD. I’m sorry to interrupt but we should probably get ready in case there is an arrival change…

Then DEN center changed our arrival.

I don’t even remember what he was going on about.

You seem to have a lot of problems no matter where you are.... just sayin.

I've never once had anyone object to me reaching up and starting the APU.

and usually when I'm ready to brief I say "ready to talk about it?" Or whatever and at some point I just start briefing.

Some folks really are talkative, I'll give you that, and I don't doubt there are a few folks out there who are problematic.

But how do they keep finding you?

Getting to a major fast is ok. Being in command with minimal jet time on a plane and theater of ops while you still have spots, probably not a good mix.

Low time FOs, okay. License to learn, etc.

Low time CAs, eek.
Bruh you would be the first to upgrade at 3 months and you would defend your choice unabashedly.

Delta has had sub 6 months upgrade since before COVID. One plane, the crew of which you don’t know the background or experience level, flies in to a thunderstorm and you’ve got the new boogeyman du jour, a La “oh corpie.”

It would be awesome if we all had your experience and decision-making ability. The 121 sphere which hasn’t had a crash since checks notes 2009 would be so much safer if everyone was as experienced as you. Btw didn’t you advocate for doing away with the 1500hr rule in another thread in favor of Euro-style ab initio training? Or am I thinking of someone else?

I know it doesn’t look like it from Cherokees tiktok feed of aviation “influencers”, but as I’ve said before there are still a TON of dudes and dudettes who put in the work grinding way harder than he ever did who are finally getting their shots at the majors, and given that they probably have a ton of previous PIC time are also getting some of those early upgrades.

Those do seem to be catching on here though, between UALs Aviate, SWAs D225, and probably a couple of others. Be interesting to see their effectiveness here, new as they are. Still on the fence about them personally.

Because I’m willing to talk about it. Most pilots just circle the wagons and laugh at the other pilot group when they can get a chance.

My theory is when we talk about poor leadership we can improve. Sadly there is no shortage of poor leadership on the flight deck these days.

Examples are easy to find. When I see a pilot bagging on an entire pilot group I point out it can happen where you work too. I’ve seen it.

In your eyes that’s a problem. In mine it’s a chance to show real leadership and improve. That’s leadership. I don’t care if 3 or 4 other people I’ve never met in real life get to point out anonymously that I have problems because in my day to day the people I work with thank me for my leadership.

I ask for feedback and let my coworkers know I want to be better. Last night it was thank you for not being a complainer. The previous trip thanks for not getting political.

Sadly it’s easy to be better than average. I’ll keep trying to be better than that.

I can’t imagine how exhausting it must be for @Cherokee_Cruiser. He spends every waking second thinking about 1 air line. When he sleeps he dreams he is a Captain wearing a double breasted blazer.
Dude can afford to live in SoCal and does nothing but complain about it nonstop. Claims to love his job yet does nothing but complain about said Air Line. It’s bad when I’m the one thinking that somebody needs to get a hobby.

Deltoids are the only pilots in the industry who have a complex that think others wished they were them and wearing naval suits and hats.

Let the hate flow.
