    Flight Bags

Just carry 2 of the roll-a-boards of your choice, with the 2nd on the J-hook or strap. In the second one, put a headset bag (ASA's is good) with all the flying stuff, and use the rest of the space for the travelling kitchen. You'll have room for the personal pepper mill you left out. :)

    Flight Bags

I have one, and the LW. It's like a travelpro, but it has the lifetime warranty. Which is important, because I've needed to use that warranty every few years. Which also means that you need a second bag, because it will be gone for a few months while they fix it. I'm using the B&R right...

    New Cessna 150 Owner

You really want to get the prop dynamically balanced on the airplane. It should only be a few hundred bucks, but it will more than likely pay for itself. The more vibration the prop makes, the more you are going to be paying for spinners, engine mounts, exhaust -- not to mention fatigue for you.

    Spirit Furloughing

For what these managers are doing, those numbers are not unreasonable. Could you find someone cheaper? Maybe - but then a bunch of employees would have been paid zero a while ago. These are not jobs that have very good job security.

Icon Aircraft co-founder dies in wing suit accident.

I used to tow gliders next to a drop zone. Dangerous enough already. When the wingsuits were in the air, I shut down the tow plane and would not fly until they were on the ground.

    Southwest pilot arrested in SAV

I just packed up my home and left for, I don't know, a while? Only thing I miss are the bikes. Will be the first thing I buy in the new town.

    Hi, new guy here

If you can get an MEI and find a gig doing twin instruction, that might help in the part 91 world. My friends, more qualified than me, for the most part aren't finding anything right now. And I realize the advice to teach in twins is tough, as there isn't much multi instruction going on...

    Hi, new guy here

No gig yet, but it was only about 8 months ago I left the IT world to try flying for a living. The IT hiring climate isn't much better right now, so I'm not missing much there. Going from part time to full time CFI has been great. Hope it doesn't last forever, as much as I like it, you can't...

    Hi, new guy here

Eh, paying for more multi time hasn't changed anything for me or the other CFIs around here with ATP minimums, there just hasn't been much hiring anywhere.

    MOSAIC

On the maintenance side, it is a huge change. Qualifications to work on LSAs vs a regular A&P is weeks vs. years. And for a lot of fairly simple maintenance on simple, light aircraft, it probably is over regulated.

    Autogyro

Yeah, the choice of RV-7 was easy, based on there being so many of them out there flying already (or RV-9, same thing, different wing). Easy to find out how to do anything. The tech is easy, go with Garmin or Dynon. It is already way cheaper since there are experimental versions of everything...

Endeavor joins the training contract party

I'm only surprised that other industries haven't caught on to this yet. Sandwich artist? 3 year's salary liquidated damages for the art education. Coffee Barista? $100k for the invaluable ServSafe course...

    Cell providers 2025…what we using?

For international, I've been really happy with the eSims from the Mobimatter app. A 365-day data plan for 50GB or so, for $50. I travel a lot and haven't used that much international data in year. And they work in the US, so if I'm getting bad coverage from my carrier (t-mobile), I can...

EWR radios and radar fail again

EWR radios and radar fail again

Not my area of expertise. Whatever they deployed, it may well have five nines availability. That's still over 5 minutes of outages per year. So it could go down for 90 seconds three times, which sounds like what has happened. SDWAN or not, they would still need to eliminate single points of...

I think we should at least look at tweaking lost comms procedures. Because they seem to be getting more common, and not from the airplane side of the house.

Gear up landings can be fun....

Most fun I've ever had flying, the J3 at Jack Brown's, by far. Definitely the only time in my life I've wished a checkride could last longer.

They’re coming after my pay and retirement

Auto companies probably would do it now, but there are some laws that make them supply parts for 10 years or so. Plus, they mostly don't make any of the parts themselves anyway. Software dependency and "less burdensome regulation" will change that, I'm sure.

They’re coming after my pay and retirement

My fear is the same reason that Apple, or Sonos, or Amazon will brick older devices remotely. They don't want to pay support engineers for a second longer than it takes to get the product shipped. And then, they want to make more sales, so they intentionally drop support and do things to...

    United Aviate sued!

I'm in Florida, it isn't great, but there is slightly more than zero out there. You can get a gig as a CFI/CFI-I. You probably won't fly much, or be able to live off of doing it. I was flying with someone today who was contemplating bringing on another one. You pretty much need the...

I don't think the math ever worked out, where the model was essentially to train 8 of your replacements. Eventually, you are gonig to have trouble supplying enough students. Or, you are going to flood the market with too much supply.
