AT-SAT test score information entered:
  • 08/19/2008 11:06:25 AM (Central Time): An AT-SAT score of 70 or above is necessary for passing. Your score was 98. Eligible applicants are categorized as "well qualified" or "qualified" based on AT-SAT scores.
YEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!

Congratulations!!!

Really I guess my score was indicative of how I felt afterwards. I walked out of there not knowing really where I stood, but felt that it could have been a lot worse than it was. Mostly, I was just trying to "think positive" thoughts so I would get a WQ score :)

I felt good on dials and angles. The scan I had not practiced before the test, but am good at 10-key so I felt that portion went ok. If what they say is true about the math bearing the most weight, I know why the 85. Math comes fairly easy to me, but for some reason I had a hard time figuring some of the questions in my head. Honestly, I think that is where my biggest downfall was.

***Well nevermind. This is how I felt, but I see you got your scores already. I dont know if this is how you felt. Dont give up. That is still a good score and with our group being so small you still might have a good shot!

How many ppl applied to PUBNAT3?

I am not sure exactly. I have just read a lot of posts here lately that talk about how small of a group PUBNAT3 is.

Maybe someone else can elaborate?

CONGRATS to HonuPineapple!!!!!

Thank you!

We are guessing that the group is small. No one knows the actual reason. We're assuming this because our AT-SATs were completed in half the usual time. Also, since the application told people not to reapply if they previously had an OTS application, that would really cut back the number of applicants.

So do we all have our scores now? I think so...

Let the wait for geographic preferences begin!

Might as well start the discussion now.

I want to put center only, NY and Boston.

I've attached a screenshot of what the geographic preference form will look like. As I understand it, we get an email and then fill out that website form.

Got mine this morning right before going into a loooonnnnnng staff meeting -- 92 -- and couldn't sit still. Hardly anybody here knows about the whole ATC bit, so I couldn't exactly share it either; so I had to sit around for a good hour and a half before calling up my wife to tell her.

Congratulations to everybody, sounds like everyone passed. Well done. For the couple who were below 85, don't let it slow you down -- remember, there's a huge need for controllers right now, and just being here shows that you're the kind of person who's going the extra mile to understand what they're doing and how to be better at it. I don't doubt that we'll be seeing you in OKC as well -- I mean that.

Just checking in with my fellow OTS's in the PUBNAT3 posting. Received my AT-SAT score yesterday, 6 days after taking the test. Not too bad of a turn-around time considering how long the process is in general.

I want either center or teminal in Dallas/Fort Worth or Houston as I have family in both. My husband is a police officer so with both of us on shift work we need to be close to family for child care purposes.

So I contacted an operations manager at a center today, and he said he's at the annual FAA summit right now in DC. He said:

"FAA plans on hiring 1900 new controllers in FY09, which begins Oct 1st and 17000 over the next 10 years."

Thanks for your encouraging words everyone. I am going to go visit DAY and CVG towers here in Ohio and am going to give it my best shot to get in with my 84.3. Worst case scenario I'll get my dispatchers cert. this year and work that for a year and re-take the AT-SAT next year and get a 100 since I know what I need to work on now. Thanks again everyone. :)

those numbers make me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

-stick to it, refuse to wash out
-show up, smile and kick ass.

I don't know if any of you have seen the attrition estimates, but..

the odds are in our favor if we're persistent and stick to it.
great new avatar btw honu

So since I'm qualified and not well qual., should I put in my geo pref's for some states that wouldnt be as popular? Or should I put in states that have a lot of facilities?

that's a really good question. I'm not going to pretend to know the answer but will be watching vigorously the response as well...

I just saw my 84 posted. I'm pretty much devastated. I just don't see any way I could get chosen with so many now above me in the pecking order (well qual. vets, well qual, qual vets). Oh well, it was worth a shot. I do have a contact (family of a friend) in a high ranking managment postion at a center; just don't know if even he can help me at this point.

Regarding the number of applicants in the PUBNAT3 pool, according to the main HR guy for the FAA (at least that's what he said... first name is Jay forget his last name), he said that there were only around 800 who applied this round. And as far as I know, it seems there were a lot who didn't show up to the test. But I guess we'll have to wait and see. Congrats to EVERYONE!!!!!

I wouldn't worry too much. As everyone has been telling me, they are really in a huge hiring phase right now, and as long as you go out and get your name out there to some local facilities you have a decent shot. Worst case scenario, get into another field in aviation as I am doing right now. You can then take the test again next year. But put your heart into it and you should be okay.
