official "waiting for FOL from NYC PEPC" thread

I received a call about two weeks ago regarding my military medical records. My references received letters last week and I made sure they were mailed on Friday!

Hard to believe your process is moving so much quicker than everyone else. I wonder why that is...

To my knowledge, none of my references have received anything (although I interviewed a few days later on the 9th, and going the terminal route)

Someone correct me if I am off here (I know you will) but don't they only do the letters part for SF86 investigation... I didn't think they went that far for Terminal folks.

DISCLAIMER: I don't know what the hell I am talking about so don't get huffy with me Mr.!

HEY SIR! Why are you spewing out false information to confuse and further compound the immense predicament that these faithful applicants have chosen to endure? :sarcasm:

But anyways, that's a good question. Maybe SF85 references aren't usually confirmed?

Hey there, I am terminal and did the SF85. They checked most of my references but not all. And all of my security clearances are approved now.

2 personal of 3
3 work of 7
3 address of 7 (I have moved a lot)

Hope that helps

There has to be a beginning or a line. That doesn't mean I'll be heading to OKC sooner than any other En Route applicant. I previously held a Secret security clearance (expired) and worked for the Department of Veterans' Affairs before also.

That could be a reason.

I also attended the July 9th PEPC, and my references still have not received anything. Im sure it also has to do with where the letters are being mailed to, obviously some will talk longer.

I wish some information would leak regarding the 'critical' facilities, I would really like to keep my Aug 26 class date.

I just took a tour of ROA today and it was SWEET! I asked the "critical Facility" question to the Manger and he said they are about half staffed right now with 8 in training and he said he would almost put ROA in that catagory but half the time when he calls the FAA they are like ROA who? :buck: so he doesn't think he would be put in that critically staffed position. I know its been said before but if you can go to the nearest facility and get a tour it would be well worth yout time!:rawk:

For anyone that doesn't fly, it might also be a good idea to pick up a few aeronautical charts for the area you will be working. Though these aren't charts you will use an a controller, being familiar with the airports, NAVAIDS, and landmarks will be a huge help. I would recommend http://www.sportys.com, and picking up a sectional, AFD, and approach plates of your area. Has anyone done this? I've actually been flying in the area I got selected for, for almost 6 years now and I think knowing the lay of the land will help me greatly.

Yes all by mail...All of my contact called me to let me know they received them and funny enough they kept me on the phone as they filled them out. It was cute. They come with a prepaid envelope for returning them. There are only a few questions. It was cool.

PDF's of approach plates, DP's, airfield diagrams, STARs

Online "google maps" style (click and drag) images of all US charts (Hi, Lo, Term, Sectional)

So I'm assuming that there hasn't been any new news? Anyone else have their references or contact receive letters?

What day do you think the first FOL is going to be delivered? My guess is going to be a week from this coming Monday! :)

GOOD MAN!

That skyvector link is amazing.
:rawk:

:yeahthat: When I took a tour of ROA they had the Low Enroute IFR chart with the airspace marked out. Also it really helps to start memorizing the ntersections on those maps. Another option that might work is at the end of the month go by your local FBO and see if they have expired charts that you might be able to "borrow" since they will probably throw them away...
