**Big News For February Applicants**

Hello Everybody and congratulations to everyone who recieved hey teacher...it's received I before E and so on :panic:there PEPC invite. I was just wondering is there any chance that I will be selected by next week. My atsat score was 84.7 and I am currently a elementary school teacher with a BA in Sociology and a total of 45 graduate credits in teaching and counseling. Altracon, I am a minority as well.

I am a controller, not in HR, so I have no idea how this whole process works, for the most part. I don't know who will be contacted, how they will be contacted and if/when they will be contacted. I also don't know why I should care whether you are a minority or not. Some person, in another thread, asked what criteria is used for transfers. I gave a factual statement, backed up by actual FFAA documents (someone else posted below my comment...thanks.. Michael C Ryan v Norman Y Mineta Civil Action No. 99-4128..."In court, Mr. Ryan also showed that the FAA used an unwritten but well publicized "50-50" policy, under which FAA managers were required, as a condition of their own performance reviews, to promote women and minorities at least 50% of the time. FAA managers received financial and career incentives to meet and exceed those promotion goals, and were warned that they would be held accountable if they did not.")
and people don't like the answer they got.

Again, I DON"T CARE WHAT COLOR YOU, OR ANYONE ELSE IS. ALL I CARE ABOUT IS WHETHER YOU CAN MOVE AIRPLANES.

PERIOD!

Second, did you select preferences when you got the email the rest of us got? If so and since you stated you were placed on the Feb 2008 referral list, I'd think you stand a great chance of getting another offer from this coming week's panel. It won't happen until the ZOB offer is history though.

I have heard conflicting information from the FAA. I was told that I could be selected to interview for another location even though I have a TOL.

Looks like I will be calling back just to be sure.

Has anyone else heard anything on the subject?

Thanks SoonerATC. You were right.

Looks like I was given wrong information. :banghead: I am sorry for passing it along here on the forum. I wanted to let everyone know what I found out today.

I spoke with Vicky out in OKC. I found out I was not selected by MI at the most recent panel due to the fact that I was already selected by Cleveland.

If I want to work in Michigan I was told to turn down Cleveland and reapply to Michigan.

I hope that this sets the record straight.

Also, a peice of advice for all of you. If someone out in OKC tells you something and it is important. You may want to verify it with someone else. It seems as if there is some confusion on how this process takes place.

We are in the same boat... ZFW selected here, Chicago PEPC. See you're in the Dallas Metroplex as well... We're pretty lucky considering we only have a 3 hour drive to class, we don't have to move, easy to come home on the weekends... WOOT!!! :nana2: :rawk: :bandit:

Did you take your ATSAT @ that Marriott over by Six Flags too?

Yep, at the Marriott. Just moved to Dallas in Feb., actually going to Six Flags for the 1st time tomorrow! Let me know when you get something difinitive about Chicago if you don't mind - specific date/place/etc. I'll do the same, thanks!

I've noticed alot of people throwing around there degrees and aviation experience, wondering why they have not been contacted. That makes me nervous.
Has anybody who's been selected in the past 2 days had a good at-sat score, but held no degrees OR aviation experience at all? Please, help put my mind at ease.

Got it today. [FONT=PrimaSans BT,Verdana,sans-serif]Congratulations. You have been chosen for further consideration for an Air Traffic Control Specialist (ATCS) position at the Cleveland ARTCC in Oberlin, OH.

i have no college degree, but about 80 units college credit and high academic achievement

i put student pilot on my application (and am now a private pilot)

btw, you can get a student pilot certificate just by obtaining a third class medical, so perhaps it is worth it to pay $100 just to say that

I don't really know anything, but something leads me to believe it only matters if you're an instrument rated pilot, no fact or nothing anyone has said, just something about the questions.

I Was In A Cti Program But Was Not Finished... I Dont Have Any Degrees Esides High School... They Look At Many Factors.. But The People On Here Throwing All The Degrees Around Does Not Mean Anything Trust Me. Dont Worr About It.. They Consider Many Factors.. I Know People With Hundreds On Atsats And Great Jobs B4 Air Traffic Wash Out.. None Of Those Things Make You A Great Controller...

I Got My Email Today At 1030am For New York Tower But I Knew I Was Picked Last Week Because Is Not What You Know Its Who You Know.. And I Know Alot Of People.. Lol

Good Luck To Everyone!!!

For those of you not selected as of Friday, I was told your ASAP page after you click Submitted on PUBNAT1 should notify you that you were not selected. I'm not sure how quickly that would be updated or if they are even done sending out the emails, but I know someone was asking if they send out a rejection notice. As long as ASAP continues to show you on the referral list I suppose you have a chance. Apparently the only rejection notice would come through ASAP. I hope you guys hear something next week. Good luck.

Did anyone happen to be on referral lists for both FebOTS and May 30th CTI? I was put on the referral list for CA, IL, IA, WI, and OR for CTI and the Pub National referral list.

I did not get an email Friday but the CTI application on ASAP says that for Wisconsin and Oregon, "Another candidate has been selected for the announcement"

Iowa says "The office with this vacancy has either decided not to fill the position at this time or has made a selection from another referral list or a selection was made under another hiring authority."

California and Illinois are still the standard "Your application is among those being reviewed by the office with announcement"

Hope I'm still in the running for CA and IL but my top two states are down.

I got selected yesterday and do not have any prior aviation experience. I do not have a college degree (YET....taking a final on Tuesday to finish my last online class for BA in COMS) and scored 97.7 on AT-SAT. So, it's possible!

On the note of Aviation experience and flawless ATSAT scores:

I have no degree, no aviation experience, scored an 85 on the ATSAT and getting Memphis Center (probably because nobody else wants it). I don't necessarily think that is fair, BUT if they were going off of the actual ATSAT score... wouldn't the whole "qualified" "well qualified" system be completely pointless?

I'm technically well qualified (BARELY). But if they're just going down the list of scores what does it matter if I'm "well qualified" compared to Mr. 84.9 who is only "qualified"? That person is still after me in the line to be picked.

Because so many people with so much experience got passed over, I'm wondering if all the panel knew is that this person is "well qualified" according to the ATSAT. No scores involved. Then depending on your level of experience and preferred facility, you would hopefully be in the top number of openings for that location.

Like I said, not necessarily fair. I'm just trying to make sense of it all.

I honestly doubt it makes a pinch of crap difference. Maybe in some situations they look favorably on dispatch experience, I interviewed for a center data position and they wanted 4 years of dispatch experienc, glad I passed on that one since I wanted to be a controller.

I just don't know about the whole aviation experience thing either and I have a degree in aviation management. Some of the best pilots I have met are the ones that don't fit the bill and some of the worst are the ones who claim they know everything about flying and do everything they can to be the best. It all just depends on what the facility is looking for I guess.

Congrats all who have been selected. I have been watching for a while but this is my first post. I have been selected for Boston ARTCC. Any advice on this ATLTRACON, I see in an earlier post that you were here before. Is this a good facility to start off? Thanks.

I'm a little sentimental about ZBW, but yes it is an excellent place to start out. Try to get AREA E (NY depts. arrivals) good mix of traffic, probably the busiest Area, but not overwhelming.
My first instructors at ZBW where John Hartling (controller who was talking to AAL11 when the transponder was shut off) and Doug MacKay (wife was on AAL11). The airspace that the hijackers were in when they turned toward NY was Area E, IGN (Kingston) sector.

Real good group of folks.

Sorry I am a little late but I received this message on Thursday!
Congratulations. You have been chosen for further consideration for an Air Traffic Control Specialist (ATCS) position in a terminal facility in the state of South Carolina.

Last name begins with the letter H.....Congrats to all!!:nana2:
