John Doe gets hired at Eagle with 500hr TT. What can he/she expect as far as aircraft assignment domicile? Any recent gouge/info will be greatly appreciated. (No multitime).
No big deal, I'm sure he means an unsubstantial amount of multi time.
That's because all the ATR's that Eagle flies are down in SJU.There we go! A "miniscule" amount of "multi" if you will. Didn't know AE still utilized the ATR. Haven't seen any at DFW.
Why? Care to quantify that statement?Unless you live in one of their bases I would make American Eagle the last choice as far as regionals go.
Because I USED to work there. One can do much better than Eagle, I know because I am doing much better than Eagle.
Doesn't really answer the question, Vic.Because I USED to work there. One can do much better than Eagle, I know because I am doing much better than Eagle.
MQAAord said:I think Stan's question was pertaining to the commuting. Why would you say unless you lived in a base, not to want to work there?
No argument there.Scheduling treated me like an indentured servant.
Yup...but, that's going to change pretty fast here soon.victorS said:Time to upgrade to Captain hovered around 9 years.
Eh...we're one of the top-paying regionals in the U.S. First year pay sucks everywhere. You pick your poison.victorS said:Low pay,
Changing. Believe me. It is.victorS said:and low morale
Cool, bro! Good on ya!victoreS said:and long reserve times in LGA all made my time horrible. I was thankful that Eagle gave me a shot at flying a regional jet, but when the opportunity arose to move to another carrier I jumped on it.
That's what it's all about.victorS said:I am much happier where I am now. I have a short drive to get too my base. Scheduling has treated me like a professional. All and all I have a much better quality of life.
Airframes are awarded based on you seniority in class. You seniority in class is determined by your age. Generally speaking, the younger pilots in the class go to the turboprops and San Jaun. The older pilots get the jets and the bases which domicle the jets. Unless you live in one of their bases I would make American Eagle the last choice as far as regionals go.
My first year pay where I am is better than Eagle. My second year pay is much better than second year at Eagle. I will upgrade to Captain somewhere around my third year where I am now, as opposed to Eagle's nine year plan.. Crew Scheduling actually treats you with some respect. Your right What's not to like about Eagle?
Enjoy your nine years as a FO waiting to upgrade. Normally nine years to upgrade to Captain isn't so bad....at a Major Airline. Nine years at a regional is stupid.

I don't graduate until August. Do you think it would be possible to interview now or in the coming months, and then wait around for a later class date for LAX?LAX - ERJ/Saab - not much movement....u can request it....but might be a while for a class date
I guess nine years is the best definition of eventually. Yes, waiting nine years to upgrade is stupid. especially when you are older than 35 and just starting your airline career. Now not caring about the upgrade time and being happy because you live in base is another thing altogether. Maybe that's why he is happy and willing to be 55 when he upgrades. Only trouble is will he upgrade in base, or will he be flying an ATR in SJU at 55 years old.
Forget it, Amber.Upgrades times change. When I started with Simmons/Eagle, upgrades were 8-9 years. By 1999 it was down to 2. Now it's back up again. Guess what? It's gonna come back down eventually!
Maybe he likes where he is, and for his own reasons is happy there. You don't have to make the same decisions and choices he does, but calling someone's choices "stupid" on a chat board is, well, pretty stupid![]()
