Please tell me this is a joke or just a "scenario?" Bc in order to get hired there wouldnt you need like, oh I dont know, a multi engine rating? Which if you had one of those you would have like 8 hours or 10 hours of multi....They must need pilots really bad....

As far as assignment (which you pick your domicile, Aircraft assigned first day of class)...all domiciles and all equipment are up for grabs. Well almost.

DFW-ERJ/CRJ/Saab
ORD- ERJ/CRJ
BOS- ERJ
LGA- ERJ
LAX - ERJ/Saab - not much movement....u can request it....but might be a while for a class date
MIA - ATR - not much movement....u can request it....but might be a while for a class date
SJU - ATR

As far as which aircraft? Whatever they need at the time. I got the CRJ.

Your TT has nothing to do with your seniority in class.

Base/equipment assigments are senority bid within your class.

Because I USED to work there. One can do much better than Eagle, I know because I am doing much better than Eagle.

I used to work there too. 6 years of flying with some of the best people I've ever known.

I think Stan's question was pertaining to the commuting. Why would you say unless you lived in a base, not to want to work there? I quasi-commuting the entire 6 years I was there. Between my "home" in Wisconsin, my apartment in ORD, and my BF's apartment in IND.

Doesn't really answer the question, Vic.

It's great that you're doing better now that you've left Eagle. I know a few who would echo that sentiment too.

Of course, I know a few who would say they regretted jumping ship too.

But, that's neither here nor there.

You said that unless someone lived in base, you'd go somewhere else besides Eagle. I was asking you to back that up other than "I used to work there."

Yup.

BTW, Vic - congrats on whatever it is you are doing now. Seriously! I mean that with every ounce of sincerity I can muster. In life, it's all about loving what you do and who you do it for! No time for being miserable.

Scheduling treated me like an indentured servant.
No argument there.

I spent 21 months on reserve and thought I'd orgasm the day I held a line.....and damned near did!

Thankk GAWD I don't have to deal with Scheduling anymore!! ;)

Time to upgrade to Captain hovered around 9 years.
Yup...but, that's going to change pretty fast here soon.

Eh...we're one of the top-paying regionals in the U.S. First year pay sucks everywhere. You pick your poison.

and low morale
Changing. Believe me. It is.

and long reserve times in LGA all made my time horrible. I was thankful that Eagle gave me a shot at flying a regional jet, but when the opportunity arose to move to another carrier I jumped on it.
Cool, bro! Good on ya!

life is too short to hate where you work.

I've been at Eagle for 2 years now, and absolutely hated the first year. I stuck it out and now it's all good. The attitude around here is changing slowly.

Should hear something on the "Letter 3" deal within the next few weeks and hopefully, that'll change that upgrade time substantially. Maybe....maybe not.

I am much happier where I am now. I have a short drive to get too my base. Scheduling has treated me like a professional. All and all I have a much better quality of life.
That's what it's all about.

Best of luck!

Just do us a favor and don't slam Eagle on the whole just because you didn't dig it. ;) It ain't all bad. :bandit:

Airframes are awarded based on you seniority in class. You seniority in class is determined by your age. Generally speaking, the younger pilots in the class go to the turboprops and San Jaun. The older pilots get the jets and the bases which domicle the jets. Unless you live in one of their bases I would make American Eagle the last choice as far as regionals go.

Mr/ms John or Jane Doe lives in DFW BTW..... Guess that would knock out the good ole commute eh?

My first year pay where I am is better than Eagle. My second year pay is much better than second year at Eagle. I will upgrade to Captain somewhere around my third year where I am now, as opposed to Eagle's nine year plan.. Crew Scheduling actually treats you with some respect. Your right What's not to like about Eagle?

Well, good luck to you then.

And last time - just because you had a bad time at Eagle, doesn't mean everyone else will.

Most of the folks at Eagle made wise choices regarding their base and airframe and enjoy their job.

Unfortunately, there are folks like you who got SJS, bid the first jet they could get because they "were too good for a turboprop" - got stuck in some base where they couldn't hold a line - and life sucked.

But, hey - you're happy now. Good for you.

.

I work for Eagle. I love it here.

I fly alot, and I work hard, but that's to be expected on reserve.

As far as Crew Scheduling goes, but Crew Scheduling is a pack of ###### bags at any airline.

Eagle rules. It's only going to get better.

Enjoy your nine years as a FO waiting to upgrade. Normally nine years to upgrade to Captain isn't so bad....at a Major Airline. Nine years at a regional is stupid.

Upgrades times change. When I started with Simmons/Eagle, upgrades were 8-9 years. By 1999 it was down to 2. Now it's back up again. Guess what? It's gonna come back down eventually!

Maybe he likes where he is, and for his own reasons is happy there. You don't have to make the same decisions and choices he does, but calling someone's choices "stupid" on a chat board is, well, pretty stupid :)

Where are you now?

I don't graduate until August. Do you think it would be possible to interview now or in the coming months, and then wait around for a later class date for LAX?

I told myself I would never commute to a base while working at a regional on reserve...but how would it be commuting from San Jose down to LAX. I can't imagine it being that bad. The reason I'm now considering commuting is that it would be nice to live in San Jose for free!

I guess nine years is the best definition of eventually. Yes, waiting nine years to upgrade is stupid. especially when you are older than 35 and just starting your airline career. Now not caring about the upgrade time and being happy because you live in base is another thing altogether. Maybe that's why he is happy and willing to be 55 when he upgrades. Only trouble is will he upgrade in base, or will he be flying an ATR in SJU at 55 years old.

With the evident fluidity in the airline industry I don't think any of us have anything to worry about. (With the necessary adjustments and/or effective decisions.

Forget it, Amber.

Dude obviously is one of those clowns who makes poor choices then blames somebody else because it didn't work out.

I love the sense of entitlement though - that he somehow deserves to be in the left seat in three years.

Whichever. Glad he's not festering within my company any more.

Sorry for the stupid question.... but when does your seniority start? Hire date, class start date, or class grad date? Thanks-
