Any info about Skybus?

calcapt,
I have to ask now, how can you be serious!? This airline is a literal cattle car that treats its PAX like garbage and I am sure it's flight crews like garbage too.

If Jimmy Swaggart and Jim Bakker can sin, why can't I? Perhaps I will be re-born and ask forgiveness in the future from my faithful followers. But for now baby, the Skybus party is just beginning.....Can I have an Amen???

Read some of his posting history and then decide if you think he's serious.

Just don't read some of the more colorful posts that got me in trouble with Doug and Kristie. How do I say this: calcapt is to serious as Britney is to stability.

cptwife80:

Don't listen to any naysayers on this site. Most of them applied at Skybus and were rejected. Skybus is a class act with unlimited potential. They have shiny new jets and a reputation others have failed to match. You and your husband will be very happy there and your husband can brag to all his friends that while they are flying smaller regional jets, he will be flying the big iron. You know the rule in making big money in the stock market is to buy when everybody else is selling. The same thing applies here. When many are avoiding Skybus, for reasons unknown, your husband should jump in thereby establishing super seniority. Then, in a few years when the boys jump ship from AA, AK, DL and CO, your husband will be senior to them all. Aviation is a thinking man's game and you and your husband are on track to out think all the naysayers and unenlightened that have offered their lame opinions here. Seriously, you, your husband and Skybus are a perfect fit. Good Luck!

You just made me spit coffee all over my keyboard. Thanks!

ya know what i'm not running away crying. I'm not a wussy housewife you all probably think I am. I stopped him from going to compass and its awhile until he sits and talks with them so don't all of you get your panties in a bunch because you think a group of pilots are degrading your profession. Why don't you go back to your cockpit and sleep.

Why did you stop him from going to Compass, yet you'll let him go to Skybus? I'm confused on that one. Compass is a unionized carrier with a contract, set work rules and a business plan. Granted, they might be set for being sold off in a few years, but at least they're not dragging down the industry. Skybus, on the other hand, reads like a fly-by-night operation designed to pad management's pockets, they're bleeding cash all over the place, the have no CBA in place to protect their work rules but MAN those A319s are shiny.

As far as thinking a group of pilots are degrading the profession, I don't think they are....I KNOW they are. Currently I'm at a regional airline (with no degree, BTW, still working on that one) trying to get an improved contract. It's carriers like Skybus that management points to and says "Well, if they'll fly an airplane with twice the capacity for about the same amount, why should we give YOU better wages and work rules?" If that's not holding the rest of the industry down, I don't know what is. Frankly, if people would stop applying to those carriers or accepting positions as pilots over there to get a leg up, management wouldn't be able to staff the airline. Here's a real life example: our wages here are terrible for FOs. Management had trouble getting FOs, and low and behold, they decided they needed to PAY PEOPLE BETTER in order to attract qualified applicants. If they had a stack of resumes 3 feet high, that wouldn't have happened. If Skybus has that stack of resumes, they're under NO pressure to improve things for the pilots. Mesa's CEO even went as far to say "As long as I have resumes on my desk, I'm paying my pilots too much." It's that kind of thinking that makes it hard for those of us on the bottom rungs to improve our QoL and those at the top (like XJT) to KEEP theirs.

And trust me, the personal attacks and emotional comments don't help your argument. No one insinuated you were a stay at home housewife. You automatically ASSUMED that's what we all thought. My wife works her tail off outside of the home, Doug's wife works, and I'd wager that most pilots on this board would be in the same situation. Okay, maybe not Bill or Corbin. :) Then again working a day job is like a vacation compared to chasing toddlers.

cptwife80, don't listen to this guy. He runs the belt loader at Mesa and only dreams of working at Skybus. BTW, his wife is a wussy and doesn't have your vision.

Listen up. With your attitude, you and your husband will probably fit in really well with a bunch of non-Union protoscabs that are ruining the industry for all of us.

How 'bout if you tell your loser who couldn't finish High School to haul his scummy butt to JuCo, get a degree and come back when he's semi-educated.

Until then, its too bad you can't accept the truth of the scumbag outfit hubby wants to associate himself with.

But, I guess birds of a feather flock together.

Ouch......ow....sides.....hurting.....

And he's right. Don't make her angry....trust me on that one. She's little, but she's fiesty. :)

Apologies to the little lady. At the next Las Vegas blitz-bah, I will make things right - promise. I am not taking back the Mesa belt loader lie though.

You are my idol.

Where do I send the check to the fan club?

Won't you be surprised when Skybus wins Air Transport World's prestigious "Airline of the Year" award.

Oh MAN!! I so hope they will, then they can join the long list of other exellent airlines like MESA - winners in 99 and 05. Given the track record, that would mean that that are a super great airline and everyone should apply!!!
