hello....:hiya: .... it's a "career" website.. meaning noobs come on here to...yes, say it with me now... LEARN!!

This entire board is here for knowledge, plain and simple...we're here to pass that knowledge on and pay it forward to someone that needs help/contacts/information etc as you go thru the ranks...people come on here with opinions of their own all the time and then typically learn what the real situation is, in which said opinion is normally reverted. that's our whole purpose...knowledge, information, break down the opinion barriers and make the inexperienced experienced.

If your here to talk to pro pilots about pro pilot subjects, you might want to start those threads in the pro pilot forum as general topics is more of a knowledge based forum for anyone(!) who has a question and for those able to supply an answer and TEACH our younger generation. you'll find gen topics to be mostly students, instructors, pro pilots and a lot of individuals that know very little about the world of aviation.

i think you just learned something new :)

Populated by a bunch of people who "weren't good enough for the legacies" and who scored a major luck-out when the ish hit the fan. I understand why you would go and work for them if you lived in SDF or ONT way back when... but acting as if you're a sky God because you fly for them but started out when they were AAA ball isn't necessarily anything beyond the realm of fortune.

You clearly don't understand the whole point of what I was saying. The whole thing at first was directed towards Velocipede, and he is much smarter than you folks, for sure, because he understood right away.

Tell that to the Navy squadron commander who was in "Flight of the Intruder" who was my F/O in upgrade training. Plus, we got a guy who was a Blue Angel. I wouldn't call them rejects.

Pretty sophmoric comment. You obviously don't know jack about the airline business and the seniority system.

You don't just walk away from 20 years of seniority at a major airline and go somewhere else. You do everything you can to improve the pay and working conditions where you are...including punishing those who undermine all the work those who went before did to make YOUR life better.

Exactly! And that's what I'm trying to teach them here...you don't aid and abet those who are destroying the career you aspire to. If you want a good paying, solid career in the future, the giant sucking sound you hear from Skybus, Virgin and jetBlue has to be stopped.

So what have ALPA done for you?

I'd like to know what the Union is doing for you. Not crapping on the union, just want to know.
 
Anyway back to the topic on hand, had another ride on Jetblue today up to BOS and they could not have been nicer.

They gave me more water, OJ, Coffee, and snacks that my rear end ever could want. Got to watch the Today show and read my USA TODAY.

Jetblue has some real good people working for them.

Since UPS only takes slugs, I guess that's why they can now limit their interviews to pilots who have International experience.

I know full well about the seniority system in place at airlines today.

You can stop posting about denying someone the jumpseat anytime. We know you don't like JetBlue, GoJets, Scabs, Skybus, and a few others you've made that point enough lately. Fact of the matter still is if you hate your job that much...which it sounds like you do....then learn another skill and find another job. Flying for airlines is obviously not making you happy. That's all I'm saying. Life is too short to work a job you hate!

You mean besides being the single most important crusader for Aviation Safety? Or the pioneering concept of providing an office dedicated to Aeromedical defense and counseling for member pilots? Or the extensive Insurance programs (Medical, Disability and Loss of License) they provide?

Or the fact that they provide the best, most experience experts to counsel individual MECs during contract talks? Maybe its the ability to provide HUGE strike funds in the event of actual labor disputes. Or the ability to tap the resources of the entire Union to benefit striking pilots.

Maybe its the trained, seasoned Accident Investigators they provide to defend pilots in the event of an accident or incident...you know the guys who stand up for the pilots at the NTSB hearing when the Companies want to hang the blame on "pilot error" for everything from maintenance malpractice to pilot pushing.

Of course, there's the Legal Team they keep around to defend pilots and counsel them in legal issues. Or maybe its the Political Action Committee who is up on Capitol Hill EVERY SINGLE DAY lobbying for issues important to pilots.

Yeah, that kinda sucks. It's because nobody wants to go to ANC, so quite a few new hires are going straight to the MD11 in ANC. Since it's all international flying up there they want to see the class II nav experience.

You're talking about FOs. DOH was probably in the '00-'03 range. You can't say that UPS isn't completely different from the early 90s when you were hired there.

Now, UPS is the place to be. In 1990, it was not. Getting hired there in '90 is not the same as getting hired there today. 400 PIC and a Convair type rating wouldn't even get you looked at nowadays, but back then, it was plenty good enough. Companies change, and you can't act like you knew that "17 years from now, dangit, this will be the best job out there!" Nobody has that sort of foresight... or if they do, they're a fool for doing this instead of picking stocks.

You know, a logic class would really help you. Just because I don't condone or assist people ruining my profession doesn't mean I don't like my job. I love my job.

That's why I am disgusted with those who value it so little they work for 60% of the established pay rate and no benefits.

Ahh, I have no interest in working with Jetblue. Hopefully, my next step will be an ALPA legacy carrier.

However, they treated me well and helped me out in a bind once before.

Seriously man, I am as pro-ALPA as you will find and not even an ALPA member, yet. However, starting a pissing war over jumpseats won't change anyones mind, but makes us all look like fools. If we act professionally towards one and other, THAT is the way to get our points across.
