Worst thing ever for NE railroading. CSX purchased what right-of-way remained and have invested heavily in long-deferred maintenance.

As for “why,” I’m it was a complete joke from a consumer perspective. Mom flew a couple times between BOS and HPN, or tried to. She never was able to make a round trip, so it was drive the 16 hour RT to get her home and the last time was the final straw. It wasn’t reliable enough to book ex them🤷‍♂️
 
I wonder if I could start a Pan Am [Plural Nouns] business outside of transportation, and market it lightly enough that it'd get investors.

"Pan American Pepsi Co, for all your Pepsi Blue Memories!"

Eh, nah.

Pan Am Coffee Tea Co maybe?

I'll keep giving it some thought. This time, things will be different!
