Alaska Hawaiian Merger

It's more probable than you bidding to downgrade.

@Skåning looking in the mirror every time after he makes this comment:

Again dude, this is in such poor taste.

You guys have the kindergarten class Alaska thread for these gradeschool food fights that seem to define your pilot group. A revamped one even. Keep it out of the adults thread here.

Look I don’t disagree but I don’t know if he thinks he’s being hip or funny by using/making reference to the R word but it’s neither.

They can keep asking if I’ll downgrade and keep getting boot stomped. I really don’t GAF.

That’s so great! She included so many of the real events. She missed mentioning not being able to land at PAYA because I-YAK was out of service. I wish it went out more often: I got to do some fun charters because of it.
And the bear strike in PAYA!

@907 @ShortField @ASpilot2be this was the opening song at Trollfest in Juneau last night. I went with one of my old FO’s and we laughed our asses off

God those lyrics were impressively local and in-the-know - hell yeah.

Is Trollfest new? I feel like SE communities have been coming up with more new festivals lately and I love it. Wrangell just launched the Milk Run music fest earlier this month.

This was a one time event bringing together 3 Troll family bands. As far as I can tell it was kind of a celebration of Ray as he’s moving into semi-retirement. He sold off his art gallery in KTN this winter and is spending a lot of his time down in Kansas. Really great guy though and after being a fan of his books, podcast, and of course art I’m ecstatic that I got to see him play live.

Hiring update:

Hawaiian is running classes of 15 in July and August. This will drain the pool that is currently in place.

Hawaiian is opening up an application window on JUNE 2ND at 0900 HST. It will only remain open for 3 days. This window is to hire for September and October class dates. They are planning to hire about 30 pilots in this window.

On August 1st a combined Alaska/Hawaiian application will go online. The application will allow applicants to preference which seniority list (Alaska, Hawaiian, or both) they would like to be hired on to. They expect classes for this window to begin after SOC in October. No details on the numbers or what aircraft (seniority list), but they are hiring for "strong" growth in 2026.

Any pilot hired since January of 2024 (the date of constructive notice for the merger), and going forward is considered hired post merger and will be added to the bottom of the combined seniority list based on their hire date and then their in class seniority (done by social security number at Hawaiian and age at Alaska).

Currently there about 70 open spots on the Hawaiian side, in all FO seats except 787. Those would be mostly filled with the pilots currently in the pool going to class over the summer, and then the 30 additional pilots hired for August/September classes.

Best of luck to anybody applying.

Any news of hiring is good news at this point…

Agreed. I'll be interested to see where this whole plan leaves all of us. A little confused about the statement about 2024 hires being stapled to bottom.......if we are doing DOH, couldn't that be said about any of us in a different year/month/week group? I'm likely missing knowledge about how things work obviously
