Stay at Atlas or leave for AA ?

I’m more of a reset kinda guy. Can do 4-5+ day trips fine but if I didn’t get a long enough reset off work like 3 or more days it starts to bother me being at work. Not really into the whole driving to work a bunch of times a month, will see how that changes when I have kids

Kids changes everything. Now I dislike 4 day trips. Love day trips and 2-days. Yes, I drive to the airport a lot. But no traffic, I’m 12 minutes at 8.6 miles to the employee lot.

Totally worth it!

Agree here. I cannot imagine being away from them for 17 days at a time. I know military guys do it way more than that, and respect to them for doing it. But in the civilian world, it must be something to consider when determining your career job. When you’re 26 and single it may not be on your radar and traveling the world 2 weeks at a time is great. But when you get married and have a family, this would be terrible.

No kids, obviously, but I did a six-day DTW-HND-LAX-HND-DTW and it was spectacular, but I’ve always been a ‘big trip’ kind of guy.

But that 4 day that became almost 9 in TLS was freaking amazing. Man, I hope my next delivery jet is delayed! ;)

Yeah, curious to how my perspective changes by then. Assume it will be a lot more “events” or “things to do” where the 4-5 day life just doesn’t work. Partially why I left the whole 5-7+ WB FO life so I could just adjust now and get situated instead of doing that with little gremlins.

I also passionately hate the idea of picking up more work on days off for money, so the pay raise to work the same amount of days in left seat has been well worth it. I can’t stand the idea of giving even 1 day off for overtime. So people junior to me can love me for that lol

Different strokes for different folks. I grew up with my dad working a similar schedule to mine. It was absolutely fantastic for our family. I feel I got more quality time with my dad. Two weeks got long by the end, but we talked on the phone every night assuming he was in cell reception.

Doesn’t AA as well as most other pax airlines/Air Lines pause hiring in the summer to have all hands on deck? I ask because as usual ACN has some breaking news ; “AA is pausing hiring this summer”. They’re still trying to find a valid source though 🤦‍♂️.

Usually.

Not to say it might not be more than a “pause” for any one of us because it IS the airline business…

What's that six day credit?

I think that’s the beauty of the big 3, something for everyone even if that something changes throughout your career.
