Plenty of different types of schedules for people. Some are really bad, but pilots bid them for commuting or whatever. I lothe AM turns, but a few friends of mine love them.Does anyone get to Purple or Brown and only then realize that back of the clock flying isn't for them?
Except for China or at least around CAN. I pretty much fast for 24hrs between breakfasts. There’s just some seasoning or herb they use in everything that after one day makes me ill. Not saying it’s bad but it isn’t a flavor that gels with me.I like the food… except for the catering out of India… no thanks!
You really nailed the "DR" in TL;DR.TL;DR
synopsis: get good at napping
(this is for comedic value, I've never flown past 7 hours, but plan to in the future)

Awesome! Wear it proudly! Now we just need PSA pilots to wear a lanyard that reinforces the idea of not taking any backward steps in career progression to cover for managements mistakes.Should arrive just as I'm coming off probation.![]()
Idk about purple but the people that I’ve heard about leaving brown either found themselves stuck commuting to ANC from the east coast, or just the schedules in general (think pre 117). Personally I don’t mind the night flying but I loathe the hub turns. Sitting for 3hrs then having to go fly again is a special kind of hell.Does anyone get to Purple or Brown and only then realize that back of the clock flying isn't for them?
3 hour sit in Orlando says hello.Idk about purple but the people that I’ve heard about leaving brown either found themselves stuck commuting to ANC from the east coast, or just the schedules in general (think pre 117). Any amount of sit in Orlando says hello.
I don't find them terrible. If you can manage your sleep, they're doable.Personally I don’t mind the night flying but I loathe the hub turns. Sitting for 3hrs then having to go fly again is a special kind of hell.
Vegas is better and it’s not even close. Orlando has nowhere to sit.Orlando is great for people watching. It's the Walmart of major airports.
I mostly did hub turns my whole career other than some hots and reserve. Need to go do international to get out of it. Even with the sleep rooms I could never nap. Just sucked at it. The best hub turns were shorter legs. Like back in the 72 days there were lots of them. FWA-SDF. But coast to coast with two legs on the outbound should be outlawed.I don't find them terrible. If you can manage your sleep, they're doable.
On the turn, grabbing a sleep room and getting an hour or 2 nap (with a wakeup call that is adjusted if your flight is delayed) is huge!
Granted, by Thursday night/Friday morning, I'm hurting a bit.
