Question for Delta Airline Pilots

I hear that before every take off, instead of saying "Flight attendant prepare for takeoff" they are going to be saying "LETS GO!!"...just a strong rumor.
"Welcome aboard, and let's go!" is still seared into my brain from Jetyellow's boarding announcements.

I really have know idea what I, an experienced airline captain of nearly 30 years, could learn about flying or leadership.

I mean I wish him well, but I know he played football for an NFL team for a period of time, but so did a few other people I work with.
I don’t think you understand.

it’s TOM BRADY

he’s important. To some people. For reasons.

Who's that really important soccer player in Miami? Rolando or something? I could probably sit next to him in a bar for two hours and still have to Google who the heck he was.

I'm not saying sports are wrong or bad, it's just not on my radar screen at all. I had a half hour chat with Michael Phelps and was more interested in how we used to go to the same gym and it never shut down the place. And where he gets Mexican. Two things Arizonans always talk about, where to find good Mexican food and Bashas.

This crossed the line pal. I am hereby done trying to be your friend.

Meh, Alaska had a Chief Football Officer for a while and that was at least twice as dorky. Marketing gonna market

United is looking for the next TikTok star. Well….At least their social media teams dreams about hiring a TikTok star…
Hey now… UA stole the bachelor from Delta and stole Swayne from American. I’d say that’s #winning.

Yeah Sports!

GF dragged me to a thing where they were moving a spheroid up and down a pitch set in this gigantic cement toilet bowl. It was hot, loud, seats were hard and people where losing their minds. The only thing of significance that I remember is the overpriced concession stand made a tolerable bagel.

Sorry if you feel that I sat in judgment of my fellow man. Well, sure, I was. Fine. Not sorry.

The Thumbrady announcement was also chaff for the simultaneously-announced overhaul of SkyMiles and stronger restrictions for access to Delta lounges.

lol, $350,000 of purchases for unlimited lounge access.

Unless I'm reading that wrong it's 75K of purchases on the AMEX Platinum Reserve for lounge access and either 350k of spending on it for Diamond Medallion or 35,000 MQDs. I'm sure the corporate road warriors can hit the lower of those numbers easy and I bet they won't mind the weeding out of the crowds in the lounge.

I have thoughts.

Many.

But I can feel my chief pilot looking up social media policy sooooooo...

I think the phenomenon of casual (occasional) travelers getting lounge and easy upgrade access has peaked. Honestly, how long did they think this would last, with lounge entry lines running out the door and down the concourse. Some random credit card that has a $500 annual fee probably shouldn't be the entrance criteria, in a business sense. Not that this was the case with Delta exactly, but their policy was probably too liberal to be sustainable as well.

Are you getting tagged too? Some of the NYC aviation nerd bloggers put me into their mentions on instagram in a "this is how we feel, why did YOU change our program? Let's hear from the pilot!" sort of way.
