Oh Delta XXVIII

Travel restrictions. Masks required.

As far as I'm concerned, that's locked up.

Just open it all. NO restrictions, no masks.

Jan 2021, Biden asked for 100 days of masking. Today, the fed mask mandate has been extended through Jan 2022. And how much you want to wager this will be extended even more?
Welcome to March 2022.

Is anyone shocked by this news? Hopefully the reports of what's being discussed to be announced tomorrow doesn't pan out or it will be the most restrictive policy on Americans for intl travel since the start of the pandemic (including vaccinated Americans)

We are really making decisions based on science and not panicking, huh... Lol

WHO is doing everything they can to stop this madness, and the government's just won't let up.

"Give me a 100 days"

On Monday, Biden called the variant "a cause for concern, not a cause for panic," saying that "we'll have to face this new threat just as we face those who have come before it."

Honest question, is that literally the decision tree? Cause for concern. Or cause for panic. Say Micron was the big one. Kills 10x more than Covid19 did. Is Biden literally going to stand there in front of the nation and say "yes, this is a cause for panic."

That fact this government would use the word "cause for panic" when it comes to a virus is pathetic.

Dems are toast for 2022 elections.

Like, I get it if you like masks, wear one. I've been told for months now my mask doesn't do anything, which is why I bought it, so where's the super dooper spreader event? I remain unconvinced the juice is worth the squeeze.

Separately, politically its a smart move. Keep on brand, besides republican's weren't going to vote for you anyway.

It's not the Republicans they need to worry about. It's the Independents, the swing votes, the could vote either way D or R, it just depends on that election year. Same reason why the VA Governor lost.

they weren't beating them BEFORE the mask mandate in these numbers.

jeesh.

I'm not even getting into the whole mask mandate thing with you. But people are, or should be responsible for their actions, mandate or not. Someone taking out their anger and frustration on someone just doing their job is wrong. Especially a man punching out a female, or a granny FA. That's cowardly and predatory. F that noise. I can't believe that you're rationalizing the actions of anti-social cowardly bullies, knocking out your colleagues, just because they weren't doing this pre-mask mandate.

I am not rationalizing it. You nut job. I'm saying be pragmatic. Reverse course, see if it stops.

Holy moley you people are nuts.

To me that sounds like a leader is, well leading. Much better than the previous admin who did nothing to lead, calm or reassure Americans of their safety in probably the first ever pandemic in their lifetime. Biden going public saying that its a cause for concern, but not to panic hopefully instills calm, trust, rational thinking in the populous. Vs. apocalyptic dooms day hording. No matter your politics, Biden saying something, is far and away better than Trump's complete silence on the issue at the height of the pandemic.

As for Omicron, again. Biden's speech/statement was more or less. "So yeah, um anyways..."

Not sure exactly how I'm a nut job. But okay. I just read your words. And it read as an excuse or rationalization, because it didn't happen pre-mask mandate. Also don't paint me in the mask crowd. I'm not an anti-mask zealot, like @SlumTodd_Millionaire. I don't like or wear the mask when I don't have to. And it is kinda stupid. Like a good example, they're mandating that we wear surgical mask at work. A surgical mask doesn't even protect against COVID. The point was argued in our last staff meeting, when we switched to a new level 3 mask. Which only works for an hour, but we have to wear them for 8 hrs. per management. Only an expensive N95 mask work against COVID. But I guess that I should go and beat up the paranoid schizophrenic, because, "we weren't beating them BEFORE the mask mandate in these numbers."

Hey dumb•. Someday when you reach adulthood, you'll find out there's people standing on principal, and the REST of us trying to fix a problem. I'm the guy trying to fix it. THe FA's in the hospital don't give about your god damn righteousness indignation that the same asshat people that have ALWAYS been there are more terrible than ever and NONE of it's stopping. If you have a god damn solution other than bitching about how bad people are and trying to un• this you feel free to speak up.

Alright, now I'm done.

• morons.

I don’t ever recall Trump encouraging panic or encouraging hoarding. But nice try. If Trump was President today he would say to just go live your life.

Biden’s speech is “yeah anyways?” Are you not paying attention? Mask mandates extending through March, and standby for some (apparently) major announcement for airline travelers.

Buden absolutely blew it when he stood in front of a camera and told the anti-vax that his patience has run thin with them. Way to go. Everyone knows when you want people to do something, you scold them like a child. Yawn.

Well, I'm currently forty-five years old have A+ credit and own a house. No misdemeanors, no felonies. Don't randomly beat people up at their place of employment for something that they as an employee are told to enforce. I pay my taxes on time. Etc. ,etc. Not sure much more adulting that I would need to do to fit your description of what an adult is.

But I have to just say wow after reading that... I remember when we used to talk about my writing and bond over Harry Dresden books. But look at you now. I simply said we shouldn't excuse peoples ability to regulate themselves and personal responsibility.

Violence and anger are the actions of the weak and unheard. I see it all the time at work, I'm familiar with it. They're in involuntary lockdown due to noncompliance with their medications. They're angry and blame their family or police who committed them, not themselves for not taking their meds. They can't take their anger out on the people they want, so they attack staff. Or they manipulate by attacking others knowing that if they do that, they get amphetamines, or benzos as a chemical restraint to relax them which also get them high. When most times all they had to do was ask for them, because the provider wrote them an PRN order for Ativan. But they didn't know it was available. Or they're used to survival mechanisms such as seeking violence as a means to gain attention to help address their concerns.

Even still in this case, we still put them in six point restraints, shoot em up with meds and call the cops to come and take them to jail. Because as frustrated as they are, they're still responsible for their actions. Not sure how you're not getting what I'm putting down and blaming me for something that you think that I'm trying to say, but I'm really not.

I voted for Biden, I can freely admit that he hasn't been handling this very well. Like at all. But you're a father, when this thing was new and the world changed, with lockdowns, school closures. Food and gas hording. At some point your kids came to you seeking answers that they didn't have. To calm them their fears of the unknown and tell them that everything would be okay. My point was that Trump never did that, he never led. He wasn't proactive, he was reactive.

Again my points in this thread aren't about a mandate, I think mask wearing is dumb. Like the examples I gave at my work with surgical mask. Or how you have to wear a mask inside a restaurant, but you can take it off when seated at your table. But I comply with the rule of the business that ask. Likewise when I fly commercially. Also at my job, because they make the rules that I as an employee have to follow. Because I like money, have a mortgage and I don't like sleeping in my car under a bridge.

Proactive? We've killed the global supply chains and energy costs have skyrocketed. These "proactive" actions now are about to make it TEN times worse. I'd much rather have Trump. We're almost 2 years into the pandemic, so reactive is fine by me. By this point, ANYONE in this country above 5 who wants a vax could have gotten one. SA doctors saying Micron patients have mild symptoms. Sounds like we'll be fine.
